You are looking at the most important vehicle for Toyota Motor Philippines. Officially launched just a few days ago in the Queen City of the South, Cebu, the Toyota Wigo is the Japanese automaker’s first foray into the sub B-segment category and the one that’s expected to lift Toyota’s Philippine sales past 90,000 vehicles annually (they’re currently doing 70,000-plus). With the come-on of being “Easy to Own, Easy to Drive, Easy to Enjoy”, the Wigo is aimed at first-time car buyers who want a no-nonsense vehicle that can fit their increasingly mobile and sophisticated lifestyle. And the Wigo delivers.
With compact proportions measuring in at: 3,600 x 1,620 x 1,520 (L x W x H, in mm), the all-new Wigo is get this, just 200-mm shorter and 75-mm narrower than Toyota’s own Yaris sub-compact hatchback (height is the same). The Wigo’s generous dimensions are a precursor to its spacious interior that fits up to five adults in comfort. The simply-laid out cabin features silver metallic trim accents on the center dash, window switches, and even the air conditioning vents. The controls feature a sporty orange illumination and the oversized instrument cluster comes with a built-in multi-information display. CD/MP3/Aux/USB on the audio system is standard across the line, but the G model gets the added benefit of a 2-DIN touchscreen display that’s video capable and GPS ready.
Outside, the Wigo is wrapped around a sharply styled body that features an abundance of chrome. The front-end is a unique interpretation of Toyota’s current design language with its tapering upper and lower grille. The hourglass-shaped (or dare we say it, spindle grille) is connected to angular headlights with nifty carbon fiber-like garnishes. Meanwhile, arrow-shaped covers for the fog lamps create a sharp look. At the side, the Wigo comes with chrome door protection moldings on the G variant with 175/65R14 tires filling in the wheel wells (155/80R13 for the E variant). At the back, multi-reflector tail lamps and rear wiper (yes) is standard across the line. The G also gets a rear spoiler with an integrated high-mount stop lamp.
Under the hood, the Wigo is powered by a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine (1KR-FE) good for 65 horsepower and 85 Nm of torque. This engine can be mated to either a 5-speed manual (E and G variants) or 4-speed automatic (G variant only). The front-wheel drive Wigo also features a MacPherson Strut front suspension and a semi-independent torsion beam axle with trailing arm for stability and comfort. An electric power steering (EPS) is also standard across the line making the most sophisticated sub-B segment hatchback out there.
In terms of safety, dual SRS airbags are standard and so are pre-tensioner/force-limiter equipped seatbelts for the front occupants. The G variant also gets the added benefit of anti-lock brakes and an immobilizer system to prevent car thefts.
It look Toyota a while to get into the entry-level mini car category. But as a company, Toyota Motor Philippines believes that the time to act is now. With the introduction of the Toyota Wigo, it proves that Toyota is not content on resting on its laurels. It’s a clear signal that they’re just going to get stronger and going into newer market segments with guns blazing.
The all-new Toyota Wigo is already available for sale at Toyota dealerships nationwide. It’s available in three variants: 1.0 E M/T (P 448,000), 1.0 G M/T (P 499,000), and 1.0 G A/T (P 534,000). There are also six colors to choose from: White, Silver Metallic, Grey Metallic, Light Blue Metallic, Blue Metallic, and Black. Flexible financing options are also available for the Wigo now.

DeleteI have read that toyota wigo comes with just a basic engine that is why fuel economy is not that really good. His rival mitsubishi mirage comes equipped with mivec engine tech which make it more fuel efficient not to mention it`s bigger 1.2L engine. What do you think?

DeleteGo for Mirage. Why? For the tranny, it features CVT vs traditional 4 speed AT of Wigo, which can reduce fuel consumption. If you get the TOTL variant, you get the push start button and many other features not present in the Wigo. The Wigo is just another Daihatsu-made vehicle. That's why it looks crap inside and out compared to other Toyota vehicles. And the Mirage just looks better, especially if you install accessories like bodykits, spoiler and mags. I'll assure that you'll be happy if you buy it than a Wigo.

Deletedriving toyota wigo g m/t, we travel from Lucena city quezon to lubao pampanga, and it took us 5hrs here and there using gps and our top speed is 120kph in nlex. loaded with 4 adults and 4 kids with a lot of stuff. smooth ang takbo walang problema sa makina and the car is 11 months old now, 10.4 km/l ang fc. enjoy pati mga kids khit makukulit.

100 km/h with 2 people on-board is no problem. But we took it to Pampanga only. Climbing up Kennon Road might be a bit problematic in a fully-loaded Wigo though.
Deletei personally took a look in the inside of the car.. and it's surprisingly roooommy for its class. the dash is well organized and all pocket / compartments are properly placed. but the thing is ecerything is plastic! i can not see any sense of refinement considering the way it was assembled.. it is like everything well disintegrade easily..the good thing is the front end. it looks classy.. apparently.. when you look at the back.. it feels like you're looking into another car. the design of the tail light, bumper doors does not match the front.. it is like the designer ran out of time when the wigo is getting off the drawing board and the back end was just scribbled just to meet the deadline. it looks RUBISH!

Deleteits a first generation model so I think I'll skip the Wigo and wait for next years model, I'm sure it'll have more refinements. Its an A to B car and well its a Toyota, all Toyota owners know what its like to own a Toyota.
ReplyDeletethat's absolutely in my mind..its the first gen here in the Ph so hopefully the next one will be much better especially the interior door panels aside from being so plastic it looks like both so thin and hollow..yes its a mini hatchback but you must have a confidence that's your safe on the highways..after I read all the reviews on mirage even the i10s and eon..i will certainly wait until next years wigo upgrade..bec..eon is a lot more headturner as well :) ---jade green innova owner

Mirage pa rin tunay na sulit. Wigo sa una lang mura dahil sa price. But higit na matipid ang mirage khit mas malaki ang engine. Offers 5yr warranty just imagine using your car worry-free for 5yrs and IMO sobrang laki na savings mo sa gas within 5yrs. It shows how confident si mitsu sa globally designed car nila. Dagdag pa publicly claim ng 21kml ave FC.

ReplyDeleteI owned a mirage g4 gls cvt. My Highest fuel consumption on the highway is 18.6km/l with an average speed of 100km/h. My top speed is 140kph. Going up to baguio is 15.2 km/l at kenon road. Inside the car is fully load at 5 adult person. I prefer to suggest you to buy mirage. In other review for mirage the highest fuel consumption got 33km/l for manual transmission. Cvt got 21km/l. Engine is 1.2 and no worry in motion up for steep hill.

My choice is mirage g4, almost same price of hatchback car. Actually approved nko sa Toyota financing,and PS bank but I na LNG nka pg back out pko. Kahit wala many masyadong alampgdating sa kotse mkikita mo ang difference nila. I choose mirage g4 bec. 1st car of the year 2012-2013, 2nd Fc 21 km\1 L , 3rd maluwag even 6 footer Hindi mhhrpn umupo sa driver n passenger seat. 4th engine 1.2 vs 1.0 vs 0.8. 5th sedan type ms pogi kesa sa hatchback at maluwag. 1st car KO e2 , kinompare KO LNG cya sa iba... Sana nkatulong ako =). Laro muna ulit Clash of Clan.. ZPO clan KO no ads... Seaman ako =)))

ReplyDeleteAttention Mr. Ulysses Ang: I bought a Toyota Wigo last March and i've had some issues with the car already. First, i've reviewed the car specs ( interior ) from TOP GEAR's Official SPECIFICATIONS for the WIGO and it's clearly identified that it has 4 speakers for the TOTL ( A/T - G variant which i bought ) and 2 speakers for the other variants. Surprisingly, there's only 2 for any variant. TOYOTA MOTORS PHILS. already cleared that issue for me and said that it has only 2 SPEAKERS on ANY VARIANTS. Secondly, the A/C unit is also having some issues - i've noticed that it's cooling well while the car is running but when the car sits on idle for a few minutes, the A/C unit starts blowing hot air. It starts running well after the car runs again. As i speak, the car is undergoing thorough check-up where i got it. An honest observation i've had with the car, that it only runs 9 km/l city driving (one passenger/ light traffic) and about 11.7 km/l on highway ( fully loaded with all 4 passengers and loads of stuff ). Had the chance to run the car - one's on 120 kph. (SLEX/TPLEX) and still movin' up. Fuel economy i guess is not that efficient compared to what was advertised.

DeleteBased on an info given to me by a sales agent from toyota, they recieved a lot of comments for 2014 wigo like speaker issue, suspensions and unusual noise on the engine that's why toyota tag their wigo 2015 as "improve" models and hindi naman sila napahiya. I purchased the new wigo last jan 10, we went to san pablo laguna via slex and i top the car at 120km/hr walang nginig and ingay ang makina and i think kaya pa pumalo sana kung wala lng ako kasama.

ReplyDeleteIm driving a Wigo for 8 months now. So far I don't have any issues. I tried 100km/hr di naman maalog. Average fuel consumption for me is 12km per 1Litre. Im just disappointed sabi ng Toyota sa specs nila apat speaker just to find out dalawa lang pala.

ReplyDeleteOwned wigo for 1 month and so far na satisfy naman ako na sya ang naging choice ko over mirage. and above expectation pa nga kasi kung titignan mo sa labas ang wigo kala mo maliit lalo na sa edsa na puno ng bus, pero pag nasa loob kana. wow! and ung speaker yes sarap mag road trip kahit max volume hindi basag ung bass nya 2015 4 speakers. in terms of FC naman pinakamaliit kong nakuha is 11km/l highest is 19km/l and take note A/T pa akin hehe. so kung wigo owner ka at hindi ka umaabot ng 10km/l isa lang ibig sabihin nun. mabigat ang paa mo hehe :)

Got our AT G Variance last December. Na break-in ko n din MLA-TAGAYTAY-BATANGAS-MLA then MLA-CLARK-SUBIC-MLA. full tank nya is less than 1k. Tipid tlg sa gas lalo kapag smooth driving at walang traffic. make sure lang na always GREEN un ECO logo pr cguradong maximized ung gas, maramdaman nyo nmn sa makina kapag masyado nang nktapak sa gas at iba na ung ingay, that time need to release ng konti ung gas until mag green ulit ... goodluck

The second day I tried to break-in the car with 4 people going south.
going from full idle to 100kmph is a breeze. St most I stayed in for 100kmph to 140kmph
No issues of whatever
Top speed of 155kmph (Sagad na tapak) so far hahaha although it is still accelerating ayoko lang masyado mabilis kasi natatakot ako.
And yes. Wigo is very light. I experienced a bus passed us by while I was running 120kmph na feel ko sa loob yung pag wiggle due to fast wind
I tried to go to baguio with four people. Kennon Road daan. Ok naman no issues. I stayed on low gear. Didn't get the chance to make some overtakes kasi makitid daan plus di ko Ramdam hatak. Maybe if I'm alone kayang kaya. Full tank lang from fairview to baguio then back to slex
I'm planning to go to Sagada this week with four people including me.
What do you think? Should I push wigo more or I'm at my limit with it?
Are you driving wigo AT or MT? I've never been to Sagada. Balitaan m n lng kami sir how's the experience if natuloy ka s Sagada. Kakabili lng namin ng Wigo AT last week for my wife and we're planning to drive it to Baguio this Christmas with 4 adults.

ReplyDeleteIf may enough cash to buy and may budget for the gas then go for your choice. be it Mirage, Wigo or Brio. At the end of the day, decide on what you can sustain daily by your pocket. Kung ano sa tingin mo ang kaya mo in owning your first car dun ka. Buying a car first time man o hindi is a big decision and huge investment. Cars may differ from size, performance, engines, FC's or etc, and all has weak and strong points but all you basically need is to be transported from point a to point b. up to you if you want it in a simple way or add some extra to it. Wigo AT owner here, 2015. so far, okay nman kami. Good luck.

ReplyDeleteWigo owner din po ako, AT 2015, so far wala namang problema, city driving pa lang sya, di ko pa nalalabas ng north or south. We are planning na dalin si Wigo sa baguio, kaya nya kaya?
ReplyDeleteHi yep I've been to baguio 3x using wigo with 5 passengers including driver. Ok naman. From Fairview to baguio full tank. Then last year nag Sagada kami with 4 people. Kaya. Ingat lang magaan wigo dont push sa pag overtake

ReplyDeleteKabayo owner here. 2 sacks lang will give you 100HP, enough na balika from batangas-manila. 3 adults, 1 baby + 1 sako ng bigas pag uwi.

I just acquired a wigo G M/T two weeks ago. The operation manual suggest that it should be filled with unleaded gas only. is it ok to fill it with XCS (Petron)? or should i stick with the Petron advance (unleaded)?

Carrying 5 adults and 1 child with stuffs sa compartment from Batangas to tagaytay kaya naman.5 speakers, Bluetooth ready,gps,CD,flash drive ready.ang air on kahit Hindi naka full like naka set lang sa 1 ay malamig.thanks Toyota for making this car.we love it
ReplyDeleteHmmmm..i'm still thinking kung ano ba dapat kong bilhin kpag nakaipon na kong nang pang DP. Need ko lng to read all info from the reviews. Well, good point po s nag comment na mas mahalaga na transported tau from point a to point b. Mas importante p rin kung aku kaya ng budget.. mas convinient kasi may sariling sasakyan lalo na kung uuwi ng province or kung magbabakasyon.
ReplyDeletekakakuha ko ng wigo G AT 2017 last December and very satisfied. mas gusto ko gamitin compared sa lancer 2012 ko. mas maganda ang sounds, madali isingit, simple yet functional ang interiors, maluwag ang leg and headroom para sa kin. napansin ko lang malakas sa gas (given the engine displacement and being a 3-piston machine)kapag city driving considering na conventional pa rin ang AT technology compared sa other cars like mirage. For everyday use, perfect ang wigo sa akin and on weekends and events we use the other car with better interiors and feeling ko sturdier. For me as a minimalist, wigo is perfect. Most issues raised in 2014 are mostly non-issues sa new models. As per earlier comments tho, kanya kanyang preference and lifestyle but for 1st time owners, wigo is recommended, budget wise and also easy to maintain. just my opinion based on experience.
