57 Cars That Prove the 2016 Tokyo Auto Salon was Awesome
The annual Tokyo Auto Salon just ended and the organizers have every reason to be happy. The show, which ran from January 15 to 17 saw a record 105.1 percent increase year-on-year. In total, 325,501 souls walked through Makuhari Messe to see the newest and best stuff the Japanese aftermarket had to offer.
The show traces its roots back to the “Tokyo Exciting Car Show” with a goal of establishing a custom car culture. Thirty four years later and it’s grown to just being a custom car show. It’s become a barometer of the latest trends in the aftermarket business where new technology or methods for tuning and upgrading are showcased, some of which, for the first time.
We’re glad to have seen this wacky show with our own eyes and we’ve already covered it extensively via the big manufacturer pavilions: Honda-MUGEN, Toyota GAZOO, Mazda, and Subaru STI. Of course, there were 443 other exhibitors. So while we’d like to take a photo of each of the 880 vehicles on display, here’s a small sampling of 56 cars on display.
