It’s official: Geely Motor Philippines is launching the Monjaro EM-I this October. Drawing inspiration from Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, the Monjaro EM-i is positioned as the brand’s executive performance flagship.
The carmaker has confirmed that the Monjaro will be the second model to use Geely’s EM-i Super Hybrid system in the Philippines. It will also introduce e-AWD Intelligent Electric All-Wheel Drive for the first time. The e-AWD system enhances traction, stability, and driving confidence across a wide range of road conditions.
Based on government filings, the Monjaro EM-i features a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder generator producing 144 horsepower (106 kW) and 230 Nm of torque. However, most of the tractive effort is supplied by dual electric motor system producing a total of 416 horsepower (306 kW) and 723 Nm of torque mated to a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission. A 29.8-kWh LFP battery means 130 kilometers of all electric range and a combined 1,095 kilometers with a full tank of gas.
Underpinned by the GEA Evo architecture, it’s engineered to take on an electrified powertrain from the get-go. Moreover, it enables Geely to flexibly utilize interior space while outfitting it with the latest in-vehicle technologies.
The D-segment 5-seater SUV measures in at 4,800 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,700 mm in height. It sports a 2,845 mm wheelbase. Some of the key design highlights of the Monjaro EM-i include full LED exterior lighting with automatic on/off headlights, automatic high beams, power folding heated sideview mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, 20-inch alloy wheels, and a power tailgate.
The Monjaro EM-i also uses Geely’s GEEA 3.0 electronic and electrical architecture, providing the foundation for a more connected and intelligent vehicle experience. For example, it uses the Flyme Auto infotainment system powered by an automotive-specific E04 high-performance chipset. It has a three-screen display with a 12.3-inch LCD driver’s display, 15.4-inch high-definition center screen, and a heads-up display.
Some of the key comfort and convenience features found on board, again based on its government filings, include leather seats with power adjust, heating, ventilation, and massaging functions for the front seats, a dual zone climate control with rear vents, USB Type A & C inputs, a wireless charger, and a 16-speaker Flyme Sound Audio system.
Safety is also a fundamental part of the Monjaro EM-i’s proposition. It arrives with a full set of passive and active safety features as well as advanced driving assistance including autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind spot warning, front & rear parking sensors, and a 540-degree panoramic view camera.
The Geely Monjaro EM-i will officially launch in the Philippines by the end of October 2026.
hopefully along with geely app.
ReplyDeleteAnd cap the price at Php1.8M
DeleteIf Geely Philippines can launch this AWD PHEV Monjaro at P2M or below it will be a sure winner!
ReplyDeleteThe local market has been longing for a value priced AWD PHEV Crossover, and were very disappointed when the BYD Tang DM-i was launched with only 2WD and a single motor. Worse, it was launched at around P2.19M.
If this Monjaro AWD PHEV is launched at P2M or below, it will steal the sales of the Tang DM-i, most other BEVs priced near P1.6M to P1.8M, some PHEVs, and even some ICE SUVs priced over P2M.
Note that this Monjaro has been around for about 3 years so it's pretty much debugged by now. Yes its got Plain Jane looks, but it's what's underneath that counts.
I once considered the Geely EX5 EV and the EX5 EM-i, but will seriously consider buying this Monjaro if the Test Drive reveals no glaring issues.

Platform-wise, the Monjaro we are getting is technically all-new - based on GEA-evo unlike the CMA platform when the Monjaro brand was 1st launched
DeleteEven the interior is different. It is strange they did not take the opportunity to change the exterior a bit and go all the way and officially launch an all new model for the global market. Their global marketing campaign suggests they are betting big on this car.
