UPDATED: 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Sliding Sideways Real Soon
C! Magazine, the Philippines's leading car enthusiast magazine has blown the covers off the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe with an exclusive first test. The sport coupe is currently on the magazine's Facebook page cover photo and some digging reveals a July or August 2012 release date, raining a bit perhaps on the Toyota 86's parade. There will be a slight price increase, topping out at P 1,990,000.
From the photos, clearly the 2013 Genesis Coupe will now rock Hyundai's corporate nose with revised headlights, grille, and bumpers. The hood has also been changed to incorporate some sporty-looking vents. Other exterior changes include LED tail lamps as well as LED daytime running lights. Inside, the Genesis Coupe will have a revised instrument cluster and center cluster (which incorporates auxiliary gauges).
Under the hood, the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe maintains its 2 engine choices: a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder and a 3.8-liter V6. If what we've been getting is right (and we're not entirely sure about this), the 3.8-liter V6 gets a significant power bump to 350 horsepower / 400 Nm thanks to a direct-injection system. However, the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder isn't expected to receive any power bumps (it will still use the old engine).
The range-topping Genesis Coupe receives leather seats, a moon roof, push button engine start/stop, the full compliment of safety features including a limited slip differential, and a rear parking assist system.
UPDATE: According to C! Magazine's George Ramirez, the 2013 Hyundai Genesis will indeed carry the more powerful 2.0-liter engine which bumps up the power to 256 horsepower and 353 Nm of torque.
The 2.0T will have the same power output as the USDM model, which is 274HP. Therefore no one in his right mind would buy a puny 200HP overpriced Toyobarucion.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the correction. This is all speculation as of the moment. We'll find out the final specs of the Genesis Coupe when it comes out.
