Lateral Drift 2012 Starts Saturday, July 28
Drifting is the fastest growing motorsport in the world, and now starts its season once again here in the Philippines dubbed as the 7th Season of the Philippine Lateral Drift Championship Series 2012. This season will have a full calendar of six rounds which will start this July until the month of November. The 4 rounds will be held in Manila and the other 2 rounds at Clark Pampanga. A total 40+ Amateurs and Pro drivers from all over the region have been counted and ready to start this year action.
Round 1 will be held this Saturday, July 28, 1:00 pm- 8:00 pm at the Parade Grounds of the Quirino Grand Stand in the city of Manila. This event is truly spectator friendly and admission is free to all drift lovers.
New judges for this year’s events will be Filipino pride AF3 Champion Pepon Marve, and Karting Champ JP Carino. Together with Mon Rayos, co-founder of Lateral Drift Productions will be again not only be this year’s third judge and but a race director of the event, alongside his co-founder Rey Charlie Cruz. All three will be judging the drivers based on speed, angle, and style.
2011 hailed Champion Audel Sison is all set and ready to defend his crown from all the competitors especially amongst top drivers, Gio Rodriguez, Raymond Ronquillo, Atoy Llave, Boodie Dabasol, Pacho Blanco, Ryan Agoncillo, and the former 5th time Lateral drift Champion Alex Perez. Last year’s Rookie of the year Ralph Tan will surely give the top guys a run for their money, now that he moved to the Pro class division.
The Amateurs division this year will be a full grind too, with new comers from Pampanga and Manila. This year, they will be separated from the Pros, compared to last year’s combine mixed system.
Rain or shine this Saturday, expect a good show, with tons of excitement, high speed sideways action, tire screeching and burning rubber from the best Filipino drift drivers.
