Expect August 16 to 19, 2012 to be a fun-filled family day for thousands of motoring enthusiasts who are expected to flock to the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City for the much-awaited 4th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).

Promising “more fun the fourth time around,” the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI), the country’s premier organization of vehicle manufacturers and assemblers, is again treating the motoring public with dazzling exhibitions of concept or prototype vehicles and the latest advancements in automotive technology.

This year’s theme, “Drive the Fun,” is in support of the Department of Tourism’s “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” campaign and embodies CAMPI’s aspiration for the PIMS to become a tourism destination as one of the top motoring events in the region.

Optimism among the 13 CAMPI members and affiliates is riding high on the back of the auto industry’s strong performance in sales in the past months. “This is a clear sign that the industry is on the road to recovery and in achieving its targets in the industry road map,” said Atty. Gutierrez, who is also vice president at Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation.

Driving more fun at the PIMS are the following exciting event features:

• PIMS Drive the Fun Adventure Rally and Golf Cart Challenge (August 18-19)
  This is a fun rally that features participating auto brands driving to various points of interest within Metro Manila, starting on Aug. 18 at the PIMS venue, the World Trade Center in Pasay City,  up to event co-sponsor Thunderbird Resorts, and back on Aug. 19 for the awarding ceremony.  After the rally, participantsOne of its special stages is the will also take part in a “Golf Cart Challenge” which involves a surprise obstacle course that is sure to make the audience cheer with laughter.
• Test Drives
  Every PIMS will not be complete without a test drive area. The show provides car shoppers with a unique opportunity to test drive new makes and models from all participating brands under one roof.
• Special Auto Financing Promo
  As a platinum sponsor of the PIMS, BDO Unibank, the country’s largest bank, will provide a special auto financing package with low interest rates and easy payment terms for PIMS visitors.
• Seminars, workshops and demonstrations
  Have fun learning from PIMS exhibitors and the CAMPI Technical Committee which will mount various seminars, workshops and demonstrations.   This is a photo exhibit of the biography of automotive designers of the participating brands to showcase the geniuses behind some of the iconic and successful designs in the auto industry. 
• Automobilia and Heritage Display
  This is an exhibit of various auto and art collectibles, including a die cast display by the Die Cast Collectors of the Philippines.
• Car Club Meets
  Every PIMS, members of various CAMPI-affiliated car clubs gather for their grand eyeball meets and other club activities. This is the best time to get to know the car club and join their fun-filled activities.
• Automotive Services
  PIMS ticket holders can avail of special discounts for car wash by Autobot Paint and Bodyworks and for car tinting by Winterpine.
• Drive the Fun Photo Ramp
  PIMS visitors can pose as winners in a car rally at the ‘Drive the Fun Photo Ramp,” a real-life auto ramp used in car rallies complete with arch and livery. Drive a vehicle to the ramp for a chance to get that fun souvenir shot!
• Drive the Fun Kiddie Treasure Hunt
  Open to kids ages 6 to 12 years old, this fun activity involves an automotive trivia game that will challenge the future car enthusiasts.  Exciting prizes await the participants.
• Fun Bounce Inflatable
  A special entertainment activity for toddlers, children, and the young at heart. 
• Fun Party Bus Rides
  Visitors going to the PIMS venue at the World Trade Center Metro Manila can take the fun party bus rides, courtesy of Starbright Bodykits. This free shuttle bus service will come from the Bluewave Commercial Complex on Disodado Macapagal Avenue, Manila.
• Fun Food Trucks
  Curbside eats have never been tastier or more fun to try. The PIMS will have a “Drive the Fun al fresco area where visitors can have a taste of the food catered by Chefs’ Quarters Group of Foodservice Companies and buy them from a food truck provided by Atoy Customs. Experience a unique and festive approach to trade show outdoor dining.
