From a glance, it's clear that the all-new Mazda6 isn't your regular mid-size sedan. It's the first passenger car to take on the design cues of the Mazda TAKERI concept car. Upfront, it incorporates the "signature wing" facia along with a strong hood crease and flowing body lines that expresses motion even when standing perfectly still. The Mazda6 is also the first car from the car company to have LED and "halo ring light guides".
The all-new Mazda6 sits on a lengthened 2,830-mm wheelbase which gives a spacious cabin, especially for rear occupants (43 mm larger than the previous model). At the same time, available 19-inch wheels add drama.
Inside, the all-new Mazda6 offers generous space while keeping the driver-centric cockpit layout. At the same time, the horizontal layout of the cabin (similar to the CX-5) gives a smooth, continuous look of simplicity and neatness. Care has been taken to ensure metal-like decorations such as satin chrome plating while parts like the steering wheel, shift knob, and parking brake lever all achieve a smooth and consistent feel.
As expected, the Mazda6 incorporates the company's new suite of SkyActiv Technology to achieve excellent fuel economy without sacrificing fun-to-drive characteristics. For the Moscow market, the Mazda6 is available in 2.0-liter (150 horsepower, 210 Nm torque) as well as a new 2.5-liter engine (189 horsepower, 256 Nm torque). The Mazda6 is available in both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic variants.
The Mazda6 is also the first production car from Mazda to use the i-ELOOP brake energy regeneration system which contributes to an improvement in fuel efficiency. It's the world's first passenger car brake energy regeneration to use a capacitor. The i-ELOOP system is available on the 2.5-liter SkyActiv variant along with the i-stop idling stop system.
The Mazda6 is slated for sales starting late 2012 in several markets. The Philippines is confirmed to get the all-new Mazda6 once it becomes available in our local specification.
