‘Wildtrak’ Stands Out from the Crowd

The aggressive and sporty stance of the new Ranger line-up is enhanced for the range-topping Wildtrak.

Sitting high on 18-inch alloy wheels, the Wildtrak features an attractive Sport Package with Roof Rail, Sport Bar, Box Rail, Bedliner and Special Wildtrak Seats, Steering Wheel and Door Trim. The exclusive Wildtrak badging and graphics, help to set it apart from other lifestyle vehicles.

Wildtrak also comes with Dual Zone Climate Control, Power Front Windows with Driver’s 1-touch Up/Down, Rain Sensing Wipers, Dome Interior Lamp, Auto Headlamps, Side steps, Cruise Control and a Steering Wheel with Audio Control.

Exclusive to the 3.2L Ranger Wildtrak are features like the Rear View Camera, Cooled Console, Beltminder and a 12V cargo box power point. The premium eight-way power adjustable driver seat fitted exclusively to the range-topping 3.2L Wildtrak is new to Ranger and offers tailored seating at the touch of a button.

The all-new Ranger Wildtrak will be available in three body colors - Black Mica, Cool White and exclusive Chili Orange.

More power, more torque

Ranger Wildtrak comes with a choice of two state-of-the-art common-rail Ford Duratorq TDCi diesels and class-exclusive six-speed transmissions that serve up even more power and torque.

Equipped with the new Duratorq TDCi 3.2L VG Turbo, the 3.2L Wildtrak 4x4 has a substantial 470 Nm of torque and power rated at 200 PS. The fuel consumption of this five-cylinder diesel engine in a combined cycle is among the leaders in its class, with 9.6 L/100 km (10.4 km/L).

For those who prefer an engine with a smaller displacement, the Duratorq TDCi 2.2L VG Turbo delivers peak torque output of 375 Nm and power output of 150 PS.

Both powertrains have been developed and refined to deliver excellent fuel economy that is among the best-in-class. Fitted with an 80-litre fuel tank, Ranger is also expected to have one of the longest ranges in its segment.

The new Ranger Wildtrak in six-speed automatic transmission is also equipped with Driver Recognition Software that takes note of the driver’s driving style and adjusts accordingly.

Ranger Wildtrak features exceptional towing capability of up to 3,000 kg and increased payload capacity. With a ground clearance of 223 mm, Ranger’s water-wading capability of up to 800 mm is best-in-class.

Car-like levels of comfort and smart features

The purposeful interior of the Wildtrak echoes the dark sporty look of the outside. A special hydrographic finish on the center console around the audio is reminiscent of strong but lightweight materials like carbon fiber.

The seat trim – a combination of leather and woven cloth inspired by sportswear with ventilated sections – provides lateral support and confidence even on rough terrain. Contrast stitching and a discreet strip on the seat upper and bolster, all in distinctive Wildtrak Orange, accentuate the premium feel of the interior.

The cabin of Ranger has been stretched to provide segment-leading spaciousness and comfort. Three passengers can easily fit in the second row of the Wildtrak, for instance. It offers ample knee room and better foot clearance between the B-pillar and the seat. This means that getting in and out of the new Ranger is easier than ever for rear-seat passengers.

With 23 storage spaces in the cabin, Ranger offers more practical stowage than any competitor. A deep center console bin will keep up to six cans of beverage cool, while the glove box is large enough to accommodate a 16-inch laptop computer. Ample storage for mobile phones and other small items can be found in the console.

Also poised to be a leader in innovation, the all-new Ranger Wildtrak comes with Bluetooth® audio streaming, USB and iPod connectivity. There is voice control over the radio, CD, iPod, USB, air-conditioning and mobile phone.

“All these smart technologies are unmatched in its segment,” said Krieger.

Advanced safety protection

Aiming to deliver class-leading safety, the new Ranger Wildtrak utilizes a whole suite of technologies, to keep its wheels sturdily planted on the road under all conditions. Ranger Wildtrak is equipped with Electronic Stability Program (ESP) which uses advanced sensors to continuously monitor the path the vehicle is travelling on and compares it to the path the driver wants to follow, as indicated by the steering wheel.

Integrated into the ESP are other new control features that assist vehicle stability and control including:
  • Hill Descent Control: Helps the driver on steep downhill gradesHill Launch Assist: Helps the driver pull away on steep climbs
  • Adaptive Load Control: Optimal vehicle stability with a loaded vehicle
  • Emergency Brake Assist: Provides additional brake pressure in emergency stopping maneuvers
  • Emergency Brake Light: Signals to other drivers by flashing the indicators when the vehicle decelerates quickly
  • Roll-Over Mitigation: Helps prevent the vehicle getting into a roll-over situation
To give drivers even more confidence when going off-road, Ranger Wildtrak models come with the Traction Control System, which maintains vehicle stability by maximizing traction at each driven wheel.

The all-new Ranger Wildtrak also offers an array of passive safety technologies. Front Side Airbags and Side Curtain Airbags are available exclusively on the 3.2L Ranger Wildtrak. These airbags deploy from the headliner to provide a protective cushion for the head of outboard occupants in the event of a side impact and the curtain is designed to protect both rows of occupants by covering the upper side structure and glass from the A-pillar to the C-pillar.

Also available are newly designed side thorax airbags which deploy from the driver and front passenger seat, further cushioning the impact and reducing the crash forces experienced by occupants in the front seats. All new frontal impact airbags are available for the driver and passenger, along with seatbelt pretensioners and load limiters.
