Peugeot 3008 1.6 e-HDi Achieves 25.7 km/L in Eco Fun Run
The Peugeot 3008’s fuel-efficiency was put to the test by the media last Thursday, June 27 as EDI staged the Peugeot Eco Fun Run. EDI invited 20 media participants to drive the 1.6L e-HDi Peugeot 3008 variants 158 kilometers from Alabang to Batangas and back in normal driving conditions – meaning the vehicles’ airconditioners were turned on and the drivers maintained speeds well above the speed limit. Given Peugeot’s leadership in diesel technology, the media easily came up with significantly good fuel economy numbers.
At the end of the Peugeot Eco Fun Run, the pair of Brian Afuang of The Manila Times and Jenny Bleza of Sunshine TV bested the other participants by averaging an amazing 26.9 km/l. Coming in a close second were the father and son team of Ron and Ronald de los Reyes of Auto Review who registered 26.3 km/l on the average. Rounding out the top three were IƱigo Roces of The Manila Bulletin and Vince Pornelos of autoindustriya.com, who had an average of 25.7 km/l. The best run of the day was an amazing 29.4 km/l shared by two media teams.
“We have always been confident about our vehicles and their fuel-saving capabilities. The Peugeot 3008 in particular, has given us good mileage numbers since we brought the units in. Even heavy-footed drivers can drive up to 14 km/l in mixed city and highway driving while using the 3008 – on diesel fuel at that. Given tips on how to properly drive the vehicles and maximize the fuel-saving e-HDi technology, anyone can improve on that number and take it up to past the 20 km/l range. The Peugeot Eco Fun Run only proved to many what we at EDI already know – and that is that we have some of the most fuel-efficient vehicles not just in the country, but the world over,” said Dong Magsajo, Marketing & Communications Director of EDI.
The Peugeot Eco Fun Run was made possible with the support of Total Philippines – the event’s official fuel partner, Manila Toll Expressway Systems, Inc. – operator of the South Luzon Expressway, Sofitel Hotel and Acacia Hotel.
Our full report of the Peugeot Eco Fun Run will follow soon. Watch this space for it!
Saw this along SLEX. By "above the speed limit" they were going at 65-75 kph. Not exactly "way above".
ReplyDeleteFunny too how MATES had to scramble to make way for them on the traffic-ridden toll gate of Calamba, lest they ruin their mileage figures.
i'd like to see a company actually do a realistic eco fun run - rush hour fairview to makati passing through edsa or c5 with all the traffic. let's see these fuel efficient cars work their magic in our real everyday conditions
ReplyDeleteActually, I was thinking the same thing. I'm trying to line up for a test drive of the 3008 1.6 and I'd like to see how it will perform in the city as well.
DeleteSir kamusta po aircon nya? TY
ReplyDeleteThe aircon seemed fine. Pero if I'll be honest, we set the A/C at 21 degrees (as per the rules) and it's not as cold as we thought it would be.
Deletemaraming salamat po sa answer sir..... -mariyoka
