Haruroot Riders Club Celebrates 40th Anniversary
The Haruroot Riders Club, a group of big bike enthusiasts from all over the country who have banded together some 40 years ago, is calling on all its members to join the club in a grand anniversary celebration on October 12, 2013.
To celebrate the occasion, a biker’s night will be held at Homer’s along Sgt. Esguerra St. in Quezon City (near ABS-CBN) with no less than notable members of the club such as Ivan Mayrina and Jay Taruc, together with a host of other celebrity guests, in attendance. Aside from the usual fun and merriment that accompanies each club meeting, there will also be a Hall of Fame awards ceremony for some of the club’s pioneers. Raffle draws and special plaques of recognition will also be handed over to some of its most active member-participants since 1973.
In keeping with the club’s advocacy on riding safely, a guest speaker from the LMFI has likewise been invited to share the latest safety gadgets riders can wear to ensure safety on the road. The speaker will also be providing updates on new traffic regulations for riders, especially now that more and more motorcycles are figuring in road accidents. More importantly, the club will also be announcing and formally welcoming to its fold the newest members of the organization during the event.
The Haruroot Riders Club is the oldest group of big bike enthusiasts in the area of Luzon and is now also considered among the most successful groups of motorcycle riders in the country. As a formal organization registered under the Securities and Exchange Commission, it is now also an active member of the Luzon Motorcycles Federation Inc. under whose auspices the club’s activities are aligned. Some of the club’s activities in the past include giving out of blankets to fire victims in Quezon City, regular visits to a home for the aged, as well as sharing food to indigent families in Angeles, Pampanga.
To help enhance their motorcycle riding skills, the club enjoins its members to regularly attend conventions and seminars sponsored by national motorcycle associations. Prior to being formally welcomed to the club, its members are also made to undergo an initiation rite of sorts where they are required to attend all club meetings and pass a series of safe riding tests.
