Strong sales across the entire Ford lineup in the Philippines helped drive full-year retail sales in 2013 up 41 percent to an all-time record of 13,285 units.
The record year was powered by all-time best full-year sales in the Philippines for the all-new Ford Ranger, Ford Explorer and Ford Mustang nameplates, as well as the second best-ever full-year sales for the Ford Everest.
Ford Philippines closed out 2013 in style by delivering its best quarterly performance of the year, with December sales of 1,222 units that helped fourth quarter retail sales increase 11 percent from the previous quarter to 3,694 units.
"We continued to build on our momentum throughout the year – making further progress on our One Ford plan – allowing us to finish the year in record fashion,” said Kay Hart, managing director, Ford Philippines. “With each all-new global Ford vehicle that we introduce, we are connecting with new customers in so many exciting and meaningful ways, which is helping to further drive the strength and appeal of our brand.”
The all-new Ranger was Ford’s best-selling nameplate in the Philippines in 2013 with full-year sales that soared 237 percent year-over-year to 4,691 units. This included its best-ever monthly performance to close out the year in December with retail sales of 512 units.
Ford has seen strong demand for both automatic and manual variants of the all-new Ranger, highlighting the pickup’s rugged and versatile appeal to Filipino consumers.
The Ford Explorer also delivered its best-ever full-year performance in 2013 with sales rising 58 percent year-over-year to 1,035 units. Ford upgraded the Explorer lineup in the Philippines last year with the introduction of the 2.0L EcoBoost variant and 3.5L Limited Plus edition, continuing to raise the bar on customer benefits in the mid-sized SUV segment.
The technology-packed all-new Ford Focus continued to attract consumers across the Philippines in 2013, achieving full-year sales that jumped 68 percent year-over-year to 1,046 units. The all-new Focus significantly raises the bar in the compact segment by featuring a number of first-in-segment smart technologies, including Active Park Assist, Active City Stop and Blind Spot Information System, as well as the Ford SYNC in-car connectivity system.
The segment-leading new Ford Fiesta recorded sales of 254 units in December, rounding up total sales for 2013 at 2,611 units. During the fourth quarter of the year, the latest variant of the Fiesta featuring Ford’s award-winning 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine made its debut in the Philippines.
The popular Ford Everest SUV finished the year strong with sales of 271 units, helping to deliver its second best-ever full-year performance with overall 2013 retail sales that increased 39 percent year-over-year to 2,815 units.
Full-year sales of the iconic Ford Mustang topped its 2012 performance to turn in its best full-year with retail sales rising 28 percent to 194 units.
To help build excitement ahead of the soon-to-be launched all-new EcoSport urban SUV, Ford recently kicked-off its “Urban Discoveries” campaign in the Philippines. The campaign invites consumers to share their favorite urban discoveries and how the all-new EcoSport makes it easier to experience them.
“With the upcoming launches of even more segment-leading global Ford vehicles this year, and the aggressive expansion of our nationwide dealer network continuing, we are committed to going further in 2014 and making the Ford brand even more accessible to our customers across the Philippines,” added Hart.
In 2013, Ford continued the expansion of its nationwide dealer network by opening five new dealerships in key locations across the Philippines, bringing its total to 33 locations. Ford plans to further grow its dealer network to 37 locations within this year, including new, key provincial areas.
Ford Philippines topped the J.D. Power Sales Satisfaction Index in 2013, reflecting the company’s ongoing commitment to deliver a world-class customer experience. As Ford continues to expand its showroom offerings in 2014, it will build on its commitment to further enhance its customer service and ownership experience.
