UPDATED: Ford Updates Expedition with EcoBoost Power (It's in the US Only for Now)
UPDATE 1: Now available in the Philippines (4/12/2015).
The death of the full-sized body-on-frame SUV is greatly exaggerated. Ford recently unveiled a refreshed Expedition, still available in both standard and extended wheelbase variants, for the North American market. The biggest news is that the 2015 Expedition shuns V8 power and replaces it is a sole powerplant: a 3.5-liter V6 with Ford’s EcoBoost power.
Aside from the exclusive V6 power, the 2015 Ford Expedition features revamped front and rear ends. It features an almost completely with a new grille, new projector-type headlamps, new bumpers, and new fog lamps with LEDs. At the back, it features a rear tailgate garnish and a chrome exhaust tip. The wheels have also grown to 22-inches (when specified).
Improving the Expedition’s handling, Ford is offering its continuously controlled damping system that monitors 46 unique body, steering, and braking inputs and adjusts the SUV’s damping in milliseconds. It features three selectable modes: Comfort, Normal, and Sport. Furthermore, the Expedition also upgrades its steering to an electric power steering set-up for improved maneuverability and high-speed stability.
Inside, the Expedition is upgraded with Ford’s suite of smart technology including BLIS (blind spot information system) as well as SYNC and MyFord Touch. In addition, it gets a push-button start/stop, a 10-speaker Sony sound system, and interior ambient LED lighting. Ford has also changed the instrument cluster to match the high-tech one seen in the Explorer.
Expect the 2015 Ford Expedition to arrive in the Philippines sometime next year or sooner if current stocks run out. Now, the big question is: can EcoBoost power handle armoring? That is something local celebrities and politicians would like to know.
Perhaps it can handle armoring, more horsepower and more torque is a big plus. :D
