Lexus Manila Refreshes CT200h for 2014
It’s just a matter of time until Lexus puts on its trademark spindle grille on all its cars. Though their entry-level hybrid, the CT200h received a pseudo-spindle grille when it first launched into the market, it gets the full blown treatment for 2014. Aside from that, the CT200h receives a wealth of new design and technological changes to keep things fresh.
In order to integrate the new spindle grille, the 2014 CT200h gets a new front bumper design with revised fog lamp surrounds and tow hook covers. The LED daytime running lights have also been revised. At the back, the refresh continues with a new bumper, reflectors, and diffusers. Things are capped off by the LED license plate light. Giving the CT200h more high-speed stability and quietness is the work of the new larger rear spoiler (additional 3 cm) and aero-stabilizing fins added to the tail lamps and side mirrors. The post-type antenna has also been replaced by a new “shark fin” antenna. The range-topping F Sport is further differentiated by the mesh design in the fog lamp surrounds, a unique rear spoiler, and two-tone graphite finished 16-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the 2014 CT200h gets a host of new features to enhance comfort and convenience. First and foremost, the steering wheel and gear shifter have been redesigned. Next, new metallic accents add a dash of sportiness to the cabin. Then, the sun visors for both the driver and front passengers now offer sliding adjustment. New metal scuff plates welcome passengers as they enter the car while a revised cabin air filter ensures that only the freshest air get circulated inside.
In terms of convenience and safety features, the 2014 CT200h gets something CT200h have been clamoring for: clearance and back-up sensors with a rear camera. A new multimedia interface (with 8 speakers) debuts while the F Sport gets the added convenience of GPS navigation as well as a large center screen that can be navigated with Lexus’s Remote Touch Interface (RTI). Other key features of the CT200h include a dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth hands-free and audio streaming, and Smart Access with push button start/stop.
Mechanically, the CT200h continues on with the 1.8-liter gasoline engine paired to an electric motor. The Hybrid Synergy Drive, as Toyota/Lexus calls their full parallel hybrid, outputs a total of 134 horsepower. Connected to a CVT transmission, the CT200h is responsive enough as an everyday vehicle while still keeping some emphasis on driving enjoyment. Like before, the CT200h can also be driven in full EV mode at low speeds and in short distances.
A four-wheel independent suspension with a rear Double Wishbone also promises to deliver a sporty driving characteristic promise by the CT200h’s bold design. The F Sport goes further with a suspension re-tune to give it more cornering prowess.
The 2014 Lexus CT200h is priced at P 2,438,000 while the CT200h F Sport retails for P 3,258,000.
Aside from the suspension re-tune on the F Sport package, what are the other features is added to it?
