UPDATED: Nissan Modernizes its Compact Car, Launches the Sylphy (w/ Complete Specs)
EDITOR’S NOTE: The photos published here are of the global Nissan Teana model. We’ll try to get official photos from Nissan Philippines as well as give you the complete specs in another update. We gave them some time, but they didn’t make it as of press time.
UPDATE: The complete specs are now available after the break.
Nissan’s opening salvo for the Philippine market is a global model that’s sold in more than 120 markets worldwide including the USA, Japan, China, and Thailand. It’s one of Nissan’s global core models and one that’s replacing the brand’s storied brand, the Sentra. Ladies and Gentlemen, introducing Nissan’s new compact sedan (C-segment): the Sylphy.
Dynamic and premium from the outside, the Sylphy presents a more luxurious, as opposed to sporty like its direct competitors; feel with its abundance of chrome from the grille to the door handles to even the jewel-like detailing of the front and rear combination lamps. Upfront, the Sylphy comes standard with six LED accent lights with HID headlamps for the range-topping variant. At the back, the horseshoe-shaped rear combination lamps also come with LED lights for a unique effect. The Sylphy comes with 16-inch alloy wheels for the 1.6-liter variants and 17-inch wheels for the 1.8-liter variant.
Inside, the Sylphy offers a two-tone beige interior with a ‘micro-grain’ finish to reduce glare in direct sunlight. The Made in Thailand Sylphy also arrives with rear air conditioning vents for all CVT variants while the 1.8-liter ups the luxury with automatic dual zone climate control. A push-button start/stop, leather seating, and automatic headlamps also comes as standard on the 1.8. In terms of safety, the Sylphy comes with dual SRS airbags, anti-lock brakes and EBD with brake assist as standard.
The all-new Sylphy is powered by either a 1.6-liter (HR16DE) or 1.8-liter (MRA8DE) 4-cylinder engine both offering Twin C-VTC (Twin Continuously Variable-valve Timing Control) and dual injectors for improved fuel efficiency and performance. The 1.6-liter develops 125 horsepower and 154 Nm of torque while the 1.8-liter ups the figures to 138 horsepower and 174 Nm. The 1.6-liter model comes with a choice between a 5-speed manual or Nissan’s Xtronic CVT while the 1.8-liter is solely available with CVT.
The 2014 Nissan Sylphy comes in five colors: Aspen White, Ebony, Deep Iris Gray, Brilliant Silver, and Grayish Bronze. There are also three variants: Base 1.6L M/T (P 812,000), 1.6L Upper CVT (P 915,000); and 1.8L Upper CVT (P 998,000).
It's like an old model car! Ugly facelift. not as good as futuristic design e.g. hyundai elantra, toyota altis and ford focus which is more pogi points as well as features too!
ReplyDeleteTo each his own my friend...In contrast with the other makes, they all look similar. Me i'd get this one over the others because I want to be DIFFERENT - all my cars are NISSAN - it's like football (or soccer, if you like), the rest of the world plays it...except the Philippines.
ReplyDeleteWe're choosing between Nissan Sylphy and Subaru Impreza? Which do you think is better?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I haven't driven the Sylphy to give you a good assessment. It would be good to test drive both vehicles and see which one you'd like. As for the Impreza, I haven't test driven the 2.0i, but our review of the 2.0i-S is right here:
