UPDATED: Nissan Philippines Enters the Executive Sedan Battle with the Altima (w/ Complete Specs)

EDITOR’S NOTE: The photos published here are of the global Nissan Teana model. We’ll try to get official photos from Nissan Philippines as well as give you the complete specs in another update. We gave them some time, but they didn’t make it as of press time.

UPDATE: The complete specs are now available after the break.

Nissan Philippines, Inc. is readying its assault in the executive sedan segment by resurrecting a short-lived nameplate in the Philippine market: the Altima. Known as the ‘Teana’ in other markets (as well as its predecessor), Nissan Philippines has decided to adopt the North American nameplate for one reason: the Philippine-market Altima is actually built and shipped from Nissan’s assembly plant in the United States. As such, Nissan Philippines says that the all-new Altima is aiming to raise the bar when it comes to styling, comfort, performance, fuel efficiency, innovative features, and safety.

From the outside, the 2014 Altima is different from all other executive sedans with its high waistline, long sloping rear roofline, and deep-stamped trunk that create a more fluidic silhouette.  Upfront, the Nissan badge is large and set dead-center on the crisp and angular grille while arrow-shaped headlights, a Nissan design trademark, flank it. The Altima has similar dimensions to its predecessor (the Teana) measuring (L x W x H, mm: 4,863 x 1,830 x 1,488) with a wheelbase that’s at 2,775 mm. Rim and tire sizes are 215/55R17 across the line.

Under the hood, Nissan is offering the all-new Altima with two engine choices: a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine (QR25DE) with 180 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 243 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm; and the award-winning 3.5-liter V6 (VQ35DE) with 270 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 340 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. Both engines are mated to Nissan’s trademark Xtronic CVT that uses planetary gears instead of belts for a smoother, maintenance-free operation.

Inside, the Altima’s interior color is dictated by the exterior color and may come in either Charcoal Black or Beige. The 4-cylinder model is fitted with fabric seats while the 6-cylinder model has plush leather seating. The Altima comes with a wide array of creature comfort features such as push-button engine start/stop, a multi-information display nestled between the Fine Vision gauges, and power driver’s seat. The range-topping 3.5 SL comes with the added luxury of an automatic dimming rear view mirror, a Bose sound system, and dual-zone climate control. For safety, the Altima comes with 6 airbags, ISO-FIX child seat anchors, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with Active Understeer Control.

The all-new 2014 Nissan Altima comes in four colors: Brilliant Silver, Black Obsidian, Pearl White, and Storm Blue. The 2.5 SV CVT retails for P 1,650,000 while the 3.5 SL CVT goes for P 2,030,000.

  1. is this what you called "ready to assault" ? too many features are indeed missing : all around view monitor, back up sensor, hill start assist, blind spot sensor, tire pressure monitoring system, inter active cruise control, change lane alert, auto leveling headlight system, city driving auto stop feature.
abs, air bags, push botton start are now very common, not worth mentioning !
