MIAS 2014: Kia Shows Off Some Soul, Yours Starting at P 970,000
Columbian Autocar Corporation (CAC) is showing off the second-generation Soul at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) happening this weekend. Though it shares similar lines to its most immediate predecessor, the 2014 Soul is all-new and is inspired by the Track’ster Concept shown in 2012.
The all-new Soul features a “floating” body-colored panel insert on the tailgate, a trapezoidal-shaped lower air intake, and front fog lamps that have been pushed out to the edges. Aside from being a unique head-turner, the all-new Soul’s design is more aerodynamic as well. The Soul features 16-inch steel wheels with five-spoke covers for the entry-level LX variant.
Underneath, the all-new Soul is 29 percent stiffer body than the outgoing model thanks to the use of more high-strength steel (66 percent). This makes the Soul much more responsive yet comfortable to drive. And Kia is offering the Soul with a 1.6-liter CRDi diesel engine that generates 128 horsepower. This is mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic with manual override. The 2014 Soul is equipped with Kia’s FlexSteer system which lets the driver adjust the steering effort from one of three settings: Sport, Normal, and Comfort as well.
Inside, the Soul features more interior amenities from larger dimensions to more flexible seating options. The new tilt and telescopic steering wheel also makes for a much better driving position than before. The Soul also comes with steering wheel mounted controls. The gauges are deeply-recessed with the trip computer nestled in-between. Soft-touch materials dot the cabin as well.
Priced at P 970,000 for the LX, the all-new Soul is available in an array of funky colors such as: Newport Blue, Acid Green, Inferno Red, and Mustard Yellow.
As a special MIAS incentive, CAC is also holding the Soul Personality Test (www.whatkindofsoulareyou.com). The first 50 registrants who will finish the quiz and successfully get matched with the right color personality will get a P 50,000 discount (that brings the price down to P 920,000).
Also, on-site registrants at MIAS will also get the chance to win one of three gift certificates from partner restaurants.
now this is a better buy than the crdi accent
ReplyDeleteIs the 2014 Kia Soul as large or tall as the Ecosport or ASX?
ReplyDeleteDoes it come with a spare wheel?
I wish there were images of the interior.
The Soul is slightly wider and slightly longer than the EcoSport (excluding the external spare tire). Its overall height is slightly less (it rides lower to the ground).
DeletePS: Japan's 4x4Magazine actually drove the FWD EcoSport 1.5 Titanium around their course/trail.

According to J.D.Powers, KIA ranks no.1 in safety and maintenance among the car manufacturers. That is because of KIA Soul.
