MIAS 2014: Kia's P450,000 Picanto to Take Center Stage
With increased competition from its Japanese rivals, Columbian Autocar Corporation (CAC), the exclusive distributor of Kia Motors in the Philippines isn’t about to take that sitting down. They’ve officially confirmed that the P 450,000 Kia Picanto 1.0 LX M/T will take center stage for the Korean brand at the 2014 Manila International Auto Show.
Powered by a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine, the Picanto 1.0 LX M/T is Kia’s most affordable vehicle and yet manages to look sporty with its Peter Schreyer designed lines. The signature Tiger Nose grille, wide rear stance, and large air dam all contribute in making the Picanto a distinctive sub-compact hatchback.
The Picanto LX has seating for five adults and luggage. The latter of which can be extended by simply folding the rear seats down. The Picanto also has the essentials for a comfortable drive such as an ergonomic interior, a tachometer (rev counter), and power-assisted steering. For 2014, the Picanto also has re-designed front seats with better side bolstering and added firmness for increased driving comfort.
In terms of safety though, you can only rely on the Picanto’s high-strength steel body because airbags and anti-lock brakes are still nowhere to be found.
The Picano 1.0 LX is available solely with a 5-speed manual and comes in five colors: Café Mocha, Clear White, Lemon Grass, Signal Red, and Titanium Silver.
We’ll bring you more information about the Kia Picanto 1.0 LX as we get them. We’ll be live at the 2014 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) as it opens tomorrow, Thursday, April 3.
Any review with its FC? Isit better than wigo?
ReplyDeleteDami negative feedback re fc on previous 1.0 model. Is it being addressed with this new release?
ReplyDeleteSo ano na? what happened now with latest 2014 (as of July 31, 2014) model of Kia Picanto? Did the Manufacturer addressed the problem by resolving them?
ReplyDeleteWhats the prob ba with prev model?
Deletea case of deceptive advertising daw, the previous picanto did not live up to its low fuel consumption as advertised, malakas sa Gas, i read a consumer was getting 6km/l on a city drive. yet i get 8.5km/l on my 1.6 altis on city driving alone.
DeleteHi Guys, any update?I am just a few days away from getting my Kia Picanto EX M/T. I want to know how's the fuel consumption plus the air-conditioning. Any info is much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteI owned a 1.0M/T 2012 model and up to now I am not having high FC issues. City driving with traffic 12 - 14 km/L. Maybe because I am not stepping on the gas too much, plus I am on easy driving mode most of the time :)
DeleteNo problems with air-conditioning too because I regularly have it check for PMs. I do not know for others but I have no problem since I have bought it.
I got my kia picanto 1.0 EX MT last January 27, 2014. I can say it didnt meet my expectation with re to fuel consumption. I always get around 10km/l city driving and barely reach 15km/l highway/longdrive. But I can say, AC is superb!
ReplyDeleteI read a blog that says if you turn the "eco" off, ironically, you'll get better FC. One significant thing I noticed when, accelerating the car doesnt sound asthmatic compare to having the "eco" on. I'll update you soon coz im still observing if it would really make a diff when it comes to FC.
on the market for our second car preferably A/T, was looking at this becoz of the advertised fc but i saw in the net that the previous picanto A/T version had very poor fc contrary to Kia's advertisement. thus i am having second thoughts in getting the A/T version. ang ganda and roomy siya. but if 10kml/city on city drive rather get the Wigo as it gets around 9.5 km/l in the city. plus its a Toyota.
ReplyDeleteany updates regarding the issue of fc of picanto?
ReplyDeletehow abt the fc of the kia picanto 1.2ex 2014 model?
ReplyDeleteCity driving=12.5km/l - 14.5k/l ; long drive (mla-bataan) = 20.4km/l ...mine is 2014 1.0l m/t
ReplyDeleteKia picanto is worth buying. If you are after for FC and good AC condition and the looks and design is superb.
ReplyDeleteI got my picanto 1.2L ex a/t last November 2014. Used it everyday going to work at 40-60 khp speed. FC started at 6.8 km/L with eco-On. After 6 months of using, slowly it rose to 7.2 km/L with eco-OFF. I haven't tried it yet on expressway. I'm quite sure gaganda FC optimum at 120 kph.
ReplyDeleteThats a pretty bad FC if you ask me. Though I drive a Mazda 2 1.3 manual, I get 9km/L at city and 12-14/L at highways. My previous 2002 2.4L VTEC accord AT does 6-9km/L mixed, similar to your 1.2L Picanto.
