This Could be Your All-New Chevrolet Cruze
While others have reported on a refreshed Chevrolet Cruze (with a Malibu-like front grille), here is the Cruze that the Philippines would most likely get: the global Cruze which was debuted at Auto China in Beijing.
Designed as the frontrunner to Chevrolet’s next-generation design language, the all-new Cruze is a clean sheet design unlike its US counterpart. Characterized by a sort-of-mistranslated “Designed with a Heartbeat” slogan, the all-new Cruze certainly looks blander and less of a standout than ever before. Sure, the dual-port grille’s still there but the application is certainly more Ford than Chevrolet. Though smaller than the current model, Chevrolet says it’s roomier because the wheels have been more “pushed out to the corners of the car” (more wheelbase?). There’s also much more ostentatious chrome trim because everyone loves chrome.
Under the hood of the new Cruze is Chevrolet’s new Ecotec small-displacement engine family. The Cruze will be powered by either a normally-aspirated 1.5-liter 4-cylinder or a 1.4-liter direct-injection turbo engine. The Cruze will now feature a 7-speed dual clutch automatic replacing the traditional 6-speed ‘box for up to 21 percent better fuel economy than the current model.
