Volkswagen Shows Updated Touareg at Auto China
One of the most successful premium SUVs, the Volkswagen Touareg has been given a timely nip-tuck and has been shown to the public at Auto China in Beijing. The changes to the Touareg are both comestic and mechanical and will only be a matter of time before we see this updated premium SUV roam the streets of Manila.
Outside, the Touareg features a heavily re-worked front and rear section. The front features new and larger headlights with bi-xenon lighting. The trapezoidal lights are tied in with the re-designed radiator grille creating a wider stance. As with the Scirocco R sportscar, the Touareg’s lower air intake forms a stylized ‘A’ instead of a ‘V’. A new front spoiler completes the look while improving aerodynamics. At the back, the Touareg features a cleaner rear-end with integrated exhaust tips and a relocated LED rear fog light. The new Touareg is available in new colors as well as new wheels ranging from 18’s to 21’s.
Inside, the refreshed Touareg gets nicer feeling rotary knobs for major controls and the replacement of interior illumination from red to white. Some controls such as Park Distance Control have been moved for easier operation as well.
Mechanically, the new Touareg now passes Euro 6 emission regulations, particular for their range of TDI diesel engines. That aside, power remains the same across the board for all engines. However, Volkswagen is saying that the updated Touareg now has 6 percent better fuel efficiency brought about the exterior re-design (better aerodynamics).
