Hyundai Philippines Retains Momentum with 12 Percent Growth in June
Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the Philippines, continued its positive sales performance with 12% year-on-year growth in June, bringing its tally to 1,928 units sold versus 1,726 units sold in the prior year. For the first semester of this year, Hyundai managed to grow by 6% equivalent to a total of 11,651 units.
Passenger Cars (PC) remained the sweet spot for growth as sales notched up by 28% in June to 1,349 units sold compared to 1,051 units sold last year. The relentless push from EON solidified its staying power as sales for the model jumped by 65%. Not to be outdone, Accent sustained its recent growth streak with 42% year-on-year growth to a total of 550 units in June. Combined efforts from the EON and Accent thus pushed first semester PC sales to 7,896 units, up by 21% from 6,546 units sold in the same period last year.
On the other hand, Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) sales were down by 14% in June year-on-year to 579 units due to supply constraints. This led to the tempered growth in the segment with sales of only 3,755 units, in the first half of this year or 16% down from 4,446 units sold in the same period last year.
