Vision Petron announces 2014 National Student Art Competition
Now on its 14th year, Vision Petron, the award-winning national student art competition of industry leader Petron Corporation has announced the theme of the current competition season as Lakbay Panata: My Journey, My Pledge.
Vision Petron 2014 challenges student-artists to renew their pledge to nation-building by interpreting small acts of kindness. Artworks are expected to feature the students’ stand on doing better and respecting our world for our family, country, community and the environment in our everyday lives. These could be simple acts such as conserving energy at home, assisting an elderly in the market, planting trees in one’s vacant backyard, or volunteering for community activities. These small gestures are all inter-related, focusing on selfless concern for the welfare of others. In the end, these positive activities benefit each and everyone, today and in the future.
In addition to painting (oil and water-based media), colored photography, and t-shirt design, Vision Petron has video-making as a category, the first student art competition to recognize this emerging art form.
Vision Petron is a partnership between Petron Corporation and the youth, both sharing a common advocacy of preserving Philippine art and culture, values, traditions and skills. It is open to all talented students enrolled in a regular university or college course, or in tutorial art and photography classes. Participants must be Filipino and ages 16-28 years old.
To download the application form and get more details about the contest mechanics, go to the website www.visionpetron.com, or visit the Vision Petron Facebook page. Deadline for submission of entries is 22 August 2014 at Petron bulk plants nationwide or 29 August 2014 at the Vision Petron Project Secretariat located at Studio 5 Designs, 28 Paseo de Roxas corner Jupiter St., Bel-Air Village, Makati City.
