After launching its executive sedan offering, the Malibu almost a year ago, Chevrolet, through its Philippine distributor The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI) is expanding the line-up with the addition of the LT variant available starting today. Priced at P 1,398,888 (the LTZ is P 1,528,888), the Malibu LT is a more value-oriented variant for people who want the comfort and space of a mid-sized executive sedan without the extra frills.

The difference between the LT and LTZ variants are somewhat minimal. Outside, the LT variant rides on smaller 225/55R17 tires and wheels (the LTZ is on standard 245/45R18). The chrome door handles are now gone and its place are black rubber matte ones. Finally, the dual chrome exhaust pipes have been tucked into the rear bumper. Inside, the LT variant loses the leather steering wheel and seats. In the safety front, the LT doesn’t have rear parking sensors or a reverse camera. The Traction Control System (TCS) has also bitten the dust.

Aside from that, the Chevrolet Malibu LT runs on the same 2.4-liter ECOTEC 4-cylinder engine good for 167 horsepower and 225 Nm of torque. The Malibu comes standard with a 6-speed automatic transmission with power channeled through its front wheels. The Malibu features all around independent suspension. With a 73-liter fuel tank capacity, the Malibu promises long stints between fuel stops.
