Ford Philippine August Sales Soar 138 Percent

Ford Philippines today announced an all-time record monthly performance with overall retail sales in August soaring 138 percent year-over-year to 1,967 units.

The record month was led by the Ranger’s all-time best monthly performance in the Philippines, continuation of the all-new Ecosport’s early success and continuing demand for the Fiesta and Everest nameplates.

“Customer response to our full lineup of global Ford vehicles continues to be extraordinary across the country. Our ongoing product-led transformation and focus on delivering the very best customer experience is helping drive record sales,” explained Kay Hart, managing director, Ford Philippines.

The class-defining Ranger pickup delivered its best-ever retail month in August with sales jumping 150 percent year-over-year to 807 units. Year-to-date sales of Ranger have risen 71 percent to 4,740 units, driven by strong demand across the model line.

“The Ranger is really the benchmark among pickup trucks in the market in terms of versatility, performance, capability, fuel efficiency and comfort, which is helping drive extraordinary demand this year,” explained Hart.

The all-new EcoSport compact SUV continued with its early success in August as strong demand helped deliver retail sales of 517 units, helping bring its total since launch in the Philippines to 2,681 units. The EcoSport urban SUV is helping to define a whole new vehicle segment in the market.

“The all-new EcoSport’s combination of sporty design, an array of smart technologies and sensible value proposition sets a completely new standard in the market,” said Hart.

Retail sales of the sporty Fiesta rose by 76 percent in August to 197 units, driven by continuing strength in demand for its powerful 1.0L EcoBoost engine. The high-performance 1.0L EcoBoost engine, which was recently named International Engine of the Year for the third consecutive year, delivers the power and performance of a traditional 1.6L engine with fuel economy gains of up to 20 percent.

Ford’s SUVs also contributed to the record monthly performance. Sales of the popular Ford Everest SUV delivered August retail sales that increased 72 percent year-over-year to 287 units. Year-to-date sales of Everest have now risen 27 percent to 2,190 units.

August retail sales of the Ford Explorer premium mid-size SUV totaled 102 units, helping push its year-to-date sales up 13 percent to 780 units.

Ford’s overall year-to-date sales have risen 50 percent to 12,554 units.

“From the new Fiesta 1.0L EcoBoost, to the all-new EcoSport, and each new Ranger variant we add to our Ford showroom, our product-led transformation continues to build momentum with each new global Ford vehicle that we introduce,” Hart explained.

Ford also confirmed  the opening of its new Ford Baguio facility on October 2. Ford currently has 34 dealerships in key locations across the Philippines and remains committed with its nationwide dealer network expansion.
