PIMS 2014: Mitsubishi Shows Off Its Heritage and Future

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines (MMPC) is using the Philippine International Motor Show to showcase a robust line-up of vehicles including concept cars that have debuted in other international motor show such as the Geneva Motor Show and Tokyo Motor Show. MMPC flew in these concepts along with the Pajero Dakar Rally car to showcase the brand’s heritage as well as future product direction. Aside from these concept cars, MMPC’s pavilion also has a sneak preview of the all-new Outlander as well as the recently soft-launched ASX crossover.

Headlining the MMPC exhibit is a pair of concept cars: the GR-HEV and CA MiEV. The GR-HEV is a Sport Utility Truck Concept that provides the clearest glimpse yet of the all-new Strada pick-up which is expected to be launched in the global market by 2015. Meanwhile, the CA MiEV Concept is based off the world’s first mass produced electric vehicle MiEV but offers a more sophisticated and sporty exterior styling. The CA MiEV has full-time regenerative braking for improved energy recovery as well as a magnetic resonance wireless charging device for a more convenient charging experience.

The all-new Outlander meanwhile is Mitsubishi’s all-new third-generation compact crossover. Now featuring a 7-seater capacity, the Outlander communicates a refined and sophisticated look while taking into account extreme functionality and comfort. The Outlander features convenience technologies such as a push button engine start/stop, a Rockford Fosgate sound system, all-wheel drive, and a tailgate easy closer system (auto down tailgate). According to MMPC, the Outlander will be powered by a 3.0-liter V6 with MIVEC mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Aside from the Outlander, MMPC also has the 2015 ASX, Montero Sport, 2015 Pajero, 2015 Mirage, Mirage G4, and Lancer EX. The ASX crossover now has LED daytime running lights and a spiffy set of 17-inch alloy wheels. More importantly, the ASX features a revamped INVECS-III CVT transmission for improved operation. The new range-topping ASX also has a panoramic sun roof with LED illumination. The ASX will now be purely 2WD only. Meanwhile, the 2015 Pajero has a new bumper-integrated chrome plated front grille, new sunroof with power tilt function, LED daytime running lights, new rear spare tire cover design, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The Pajero is available still in both petrol (3.8-liter MIVEC V6) or diesel (3.2-liter Di-D CRDi).

Celebrating its participation at PIMS, MMPC is offering additional incentives to buyers during the four day event. There will be an additional P 5,000 discount on all purchases and reservations made during September 18 to 21. This discount is applicable not only to PIMS show goers but to everyone who will visit and place a reservation at any Mitsubishi dealership nationwide (except Mirage G4 GX and GLX M/T). For those opting to test drive a Mitsubishi vehicle during PIMS, an additional P 5,000 discount can be applied. This means buyers can save as much as P 10,000 during the 4-day event.

    2. But aren't concept cars supposed to be impressive and not laughable?

    3. Remember, today's modern designed cars were possibly laughable 20 years ago.

    1. I don't know about the technical details but they said that the new cvt is smoother and more efficient than the previous one. In short, its the same bullshit spewed by other motor companies when they update some of their vehicle's components.

    1. With almost no traffic in the city, 10km/L is achievable even with the old cvt.

    3. Yes but that's the best fuel consumption I got and it literally had almost no traffic since it was past midnight. On a daily routine with moderate traffic, you can expect about 7-8km/L in the city. Of course with the new cvt, the fuel consumption should be better than what I get.
