2015 Ford Escape vs the Competition
It seems Ford Philippines is re-defining what ‘premium’ in ‘premium compact crossover’ really means with the all-new 2015 Escape. Available in two variants, the 1.6 SE and 2.0 Titanium, it’s bound to draw comparisons with the best compact crossovers available in the market as of now namely, the Subaru Forester, Mazda CX-5, and Nissan X-Trail.
Thus, it’s about right to pit the all-new Escape (both the 1.6 SE and 2.0 Titanium) against its most likely competition: Subaru Forester 2.0 i-Premium and XT, Mazda CX-5 2.5 AWD Sport, and the Nissan X-Trail 4WD. Which one comes out on top? Well, let the chart decide. As always, the best figures are in Bold.

features of the tucson premium, engine of the forester turbo, sporty vibe of the cx 5 for the price of a crv. Thumbs up ford!
ReplyDeletethis thing flies! I test drove the 2.0 and ... holy sh******t!... the torque is mistifying!
ReplyDeleteyum yum!.. salapi! kelangan ko ng salapi!!!
really?..it can actually fly?..i should get one of these..
DeleteLOL!
Still Waiting for the All-New 2015 Everest and will decide which of the two I will get. :)
ReplyDeleteFor me, the Forester XT is still at the top of this list. Power, handling, and especially safety.

Standard Forester 2.0i-L has more value. All the needed features for 1.398M with standard AWD.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I still think the Forester L is still best value. Can't beat that 4WD Boxer...
ReplyDeleteIts a toss between the Subaru Forester and the Mazda CX-5 as the best CUV
ReplyDeleteEcoboost on the Ford Escapes are gas-guzzlers
And not to mention it has that same dual clutch transmission from the Focus. I heard is jerky and annoying during slow moving traffic. Reliability is another concern. I still prefer the Forester.
ReplyDeleteTransmission needs to be confirmed or verified. Someone already posted that Select Shift is not a DCG. So a clarification is really in order.
DeleteIt would be odd that the Escape loses the DCG but all their lineup, including the Fiesta has DCG. But I would understand why if the DCG issues can't be resolved as it is not compatible with our driving conditions (extreme crawling traffic)
Escape uses a 6-speed SelectShift (torque converter) automatic just like its big brother, the Explorer.
DeleteThe Getrag-Ford dry-clutch DCT (PowerShift) for gasoline-engined small Ford vehicles was not designed for high-torque.

subaru has yet to solve its head gasket failures after 3-5 years of usage.
ReplyDeleteboxer engines is notorius in maintenance - complexity in head gaskets, sparkplug changes, oil eating pistons, etc...FYI all turboed engines are guzzlers, not just ecoboosts.. more air=more fuel.
DeleteMinsan pa nga dalawang sasakyan isang year. Ganyan talaga ang mga rich kids, demanding. Akala mo kung mga sino.
DeleteOo nga. Nakakasawa na yang monkey crap ng troll na yan. Paulit ulit na lang. Retarded ata. Tapos mamaya sasabihin niya: "this repetitive moron is blah blah better than you". Walang ibang masabi.
DeleteCan you please include specs for the Rav4 in the comparo? thank you
ReplyDeleteThe Rav4 might've been left out because it's one of the least sulit in this category. All these models are very competitive in terms of features/toys and value for money.
DeleteI agree, your money is not worth it
DeleteUly, which of these do you think will have the best resale value say after 5 years?
ReplyDeleteKung resale value ang paguusapan, Honda CRV ang panalo.
DeletePersonally, I really don't get the question why resale value is important as I think deciding on vehicle purchases should be til it breaks almost or can't serve its purpose/is to hard/expensive in terms of upkeep/maintenance.
DeleteSo I believe the better question is can it last more than 5 years from regular ownership/use?
I think it losing a DCT as mentioned would be a better guarantee against it and the only real question would be the Ecoboost engine issue which is related to build up inside the cylinder (you can check this out on YT happening in the states).
So I am unsure whether they have resolved that design issue.
Because some people like to change cars after X years (in the case of the one who asked the question, 5 years). For whatever reason. It could be because they don't want to shoulder the expensive and time-consuming maintenance that's bound to happen after 5 years, or they get the car through a company car plan, or they simply think a 5-year old car is old, and they want a new one. So to some, resale value is important. To others, no. It really depends on one's situation and/or mindset.
DeleteI personally like upgrading to a brand new car every 5-6 years. It's one of those things that I look forward to and work hard for. Kanya kanyang hilig as they say.
ReplyDeleteone word...HIDEOUS!
ReplyDeleteLet me guess.. Mazda fanboy ka no? At yang sasabihin mong mas magandang itsura, cx-5 na naman yan.
DeleteHINDI ako mazda fanboy..(I have 2 personal cars..one bold H and the other one italic H)..at aminin na natin it does not look cool and yes cx5 looks better..
DeleteAt ano naman ang hyundai at honda mong good looking?
DeleteI have my good old '09 vera cruz at pinalitan ko na yung '03 altis ko ng bagong jazz, and I personally own those cars.
DeleteWhat?! Seriously? If you consider the vera cruz to be good looking and the new ford escape to be hideous, should have your eyes checked, pronto.
DeleteYou're making me laugh kid. Consider the year the vera cruz was designed and how did the escape looked at that time.
DeleteYou didn't understand. What I was referring to was this all-new escape vs your vera cruz and how you described it as hideous. You have no right to say that the escape is hideous since you own a vera cruz. By owning a vera cruz, I already know that you have bad taste and you saying that the escape is hideous means that its actually good looking.
DeleteOh, even before, the escape already looked better than the weird and disfigured abomination called the vera cruz. Its actually one of the ugliest cars to have ever existed.
You really know how to make people laugh...lol! Sorry but I still find this car HIDEOUS compared to; santa fe, cx5, xv, sportage, xtrail. If its the ford edge, I would have agreed with you then.
DeleteIts okay, laugh as loud as you can. At least I can afford a Vera Cruz.
DeleteYou can't afford good taste though.
DeleteHmm, this other guy is implying he has good taste. May we know the cars you own?
DeleteOne does not have to be a genius to figure that you have bad taste.. Its universally accepted that the hyundai vera cruz is one ugly mofo.. And it passed your standards. That says a lot about your taste.
LOL! And by the way, nung sinabi ko na hideous ang escape, ang ibig ko'ng sabihin e, pangit siya kung ikukumpara mo sa una; cx5, at ikalawa; sa santa fe. At siguro I really have a bad taste, kasi ang na sa isip ko na ipapalit ko sa VC, e dodge durango imbis na yung poging explorer. And I honestly can't afford german CUVs. HOW ABOUT YOU?
DeleteI'm not the same person as Mr. Veracruz here if it's not too obvious to you, you idiot. I'm not even a fan of the Veracruz. So what's your ride, tasteful guy?
DeleteGuys, why does it have to be a pissing contest everytime in the comment sections with the lot of you?
DeleteThere should be nothing wrong whether you like the Veracruz or Escape. You will prefer one over another. You rarely have the chance/opportunity to pick both or, heck, all vehicles on the market just so you can say you own it to shut everyone up.
It's a subjective preference anyway so why should it matter to you what someone else picked to be their ride?
And with the issue of the Veracruz, just to be fair, that was before this generation Escape was launched, and at a time when it was positioned with more premium that the Sta Fe back then.
Someone started with the "HIDEOUS" comment which if you don't agree with it, then just skip it.
To each his own.
I recently bought a civic fd, 2nd hand but at least it looks way better than a freaking vera cruz.
Deletefriend, you used a very offensive word in describing a car or any matter.
Deletehideous means exceedingly ugly, morally offensive, shocking... next time try to use a more palatable word. you will surely be flamed in doing so.. You might be right in your own term, but expressing it in public forums will backfire against you... take this as a learning.
Lesson learned then. Thanks a lot. Peace.
DeleteWoah!!! what a fight
DeleteIf I have read this thread earlier, I would have nominated my Ssangyong Stavic as the best looking of them all! You hurt my feelings by saying that my taste and choice of car is wrong huhuhu
DeleteWell at least I'm not one of the herd crowd....
Cool specs. But what about the durability? Old Escape had a lotta horror stories.
ReplyDeleteVERY OVERPRICED TALAGA ANG FORD!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy there is no parking sensors and camera on the 1.6 premium 2015 escape. How much would it cost to install it by the casa?
ReplyDeleteParking sensors cost about P2K or more depending on how many. The default is usually 2 sensors, but last time I inquired online you can specify the OEM style 3 or 4 sensor systems similar to the higher trim models. Those would probably cost more though.
DeleteFORD==Fix Or Repair Daily
ReplyDeleteEven Americans don't buy these unreliable cr4p anymore, only farmers and rural folk buy those Ford trucks in the US. Also, turbocharged gasoline engines are notorious gas guzzlers, ask Subaru owners. Just compare the real-world mileage of a CX-5 and a Forester XT. No one really needs 240hp in an SUV in this country where speed limits are 60kph in the city and 100kmh in most highways. But if you wanna burn away your hard-earned money in fuel bills then by all means get this Escape or the Forester XT.
P.S. Nice to see AM from M*ti*ncars is still an obvious Ford fanboy, LOL. Musta AM, nakabili ka na ba ng pangarap mong Ford Mustang with non-independent rear suspension? Ahehehe. Palitan mo na yang Corolla ng family mo, luma na yan di ba. See yah around, classic Google copy&paste instant expert.
Nope, Previous gen Focus MT. Rides well, handles well, has good NVH, perfect successor to our previous British Fords. We skipped the Laser and Lynx.
Delete-AM
hi,
ReplyDeletei'm also looking for SUV but not in a hurry to get one. my first choice is Subaru forester 2.0i-Premium (yung XT masyadong mahal). When I saw nissan xtrail i've consider it but based on some negative here i might not consider it at all.
now, i see new model Ford Escape, i think i might consider it too.
i would like to get your advice since it would be my first time to own a car.
i need to get yet formal driving lesson though i've driving experience before in my province.
thanks
Based on the table shown above parang difference lang ng 90k ang XT at Escape, can you stretch your budget a little? The XT looks better for me IMHO.
ReplyDeletereally?..it can actually fly?..i should get one of these..
