UPDATE 1: More info, pics of 2015 Mitsubishi Strada/Triton live at the 31st Thailand Motor Expo 2014 (12/1).
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has formally unveiled the all-new Triton (our Strada) in Thailand. It’s the Triton’s first full re-design after nine long years and it’s already on sale in Thailand. It will soon hit other markets, including the Philippines, in 2015.
Conceived around the concept of “Ultimate Sport Utility Truck”, the all-new 2015 Triton promises to combine the interior comfort of a passenger car with the functionality and reliability of a pick-up truck. The styling, which Mitsubishi says, evokes the form of a “well-honed athlete” presents the new corporate face although there remains some very strong similarities with the outgoing Strada. Still, Mitsubishi says that matching the looks are high levels of safety performance through its durable and sturdy chassis as well as frame structure with the RISE impact safety body. The all-new Triton is said to deliver quietness and comfort rivaling that of a passenger car thanks to a new diesel engine, optimized suspension, and the strategic placement of sound insulation.
Available in Single Cab, Double Cab, and Club Cab variants, the all-new 2015 Triton/Strada is powered by three engine choices. Leading the pack is a new 2.4-liter MIVEC turbo diesel engine called the 4N15. It has 181 horsepower and an aluminum block. In addition, the 2.5-liter Di-D with variable geometry turbo and the 2.4-liter gasoline engine are carried over from the current Strada.
Mitsubishi says that the all-new Triton will have varied equipment optimized for each individual market. However, the Thailand model has features including leather seats, a Smart Key push button start/stop, GPS navigation, among other features.
The all-new 2015 Strada/Triton will be assembled at Mitsubishi’s Laem Chabang Plant.
front grill/headlights looks cheap.. i doesnt even look remotely like the concept vehicle..
ReplyDeleteat 1st glance i thought i was a nissan murano...
ReplyDeletesame here, but i decided the grill looks like that of the current prado.
Deletelooks nice and promising... when it's alone and no other brand of pick-ups beside it.
ReplyDeleteim disapointed but im glad mitsu finally came out with something new. this was totally out of the blue, ive been following up on the new strada but everything i read about it was that it wouldnt be ready till 2017 so im so glad its out now. i'm willing to bet it's a lot better than the current model it replaces, i just hope it won't have too much price hike. i still prefer my colorado though, since i'm a power addict lol. nothing beats it's 369lbs/torque. yeah yeah the colorado has a very harsh ride and a continental size turning radius but i'm so used to it and the power is worth the trade offs with those flaws.
After 3 years, panay balik mo sa casa. Guaranteed.
Deleteguaranteed huh? and if it doesn't breakdown? what then? the only reason why chevy's isn't very popular here is bcos they haven't been here for a while. the problem with us filipinos is that we usually bash a car if we can't afford them. i've been in the states for 11yrs when i was in the army and i've been stationed on bases around small towns and i still see 1950's chevy's, and ford still driving around with no real issues. my colorado has been with me for 2 yrs and ive never had any issues with it except for the headlight which was bashed by somebody when i wasn't around. if u hate american trucks so much, go get yourself an isuzu then, the king of slow and smoke lol.
DeleteYeah but the problem is, your colorado shares the same design with the "king of slow and smoke" Isuzu d-max. You just bashed your own ride. Boo-hoo.
DeleteThe colorado isn't even sold in the US. Its not a true American truck actually. Its designed for 3rd world countries and Australia.
Oh and by the way, the Chevrolet Optra says hi.
again your ignorance amazes me. the colorado is sold in the u.s., same chassis and all it's mechanical components, even the engine is the same. exterior and interior has a different look though. and yes the dmax and colorado shares a lot of components, but the main ones which is the engine and transmission, they do not. next time check out the facts before you comment. and by the way, any car model that isn't sold in the u.s. market are crap, cos they have the highest standards for safety and everything else. and the colorado is sold there, so what now? i'd attach a pic here, but we're not allowed too.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
Deletehttp://www.netcarshow.com/chevrolet/2015-colorado/ there's the link for the u.s. version of the colorado. so, it's still not gonna be sold in the u.s.?
DeleteLOL. That's not the same as your 3rd world colorado. They don't even have the same dimensions. Just look at the fenders and body lines. They're significantly different vehicles. Your 3rd world low quality pick up is crap and you should be ashamed for trying to be a know-it-all.
DeletePlease check the facts before you comment sir. Anton Yap knows what he's saying. The USDM Colorado basically shares the same platform, same parts, same transmission, same diesel engine though it will become available there in 2016 and the same gas engine (Middle East markets get the same V6 gas engine as that of the USDM) as that of the global market Colorado. They've just differed from the interior and exterior design but it is still the one and the same Colorado.
DeleteBut it was not designed for americans. It was initially intended for the a different market outside of america. Basically what the americans are getting is a 3rd world midsize truck that conformed to 'murican standards.
DeleteColorado is a good truck. I am even considering of getting one. For the person who says the colorado is sirain, then maybe you don't know the basic thing on how to take car of your car, no matter which car you buy or which brand you get, proper maintenance will always help get your car into it's proper condition. Baka ang alam mo lang eh gumamit. Next time you comment, use your brain first.
DeleteNope. Chevy always had poor quality vehicles. No matter how much you take care of it, how religiously you follow the PMS schedule, even if you were TESDA trained, you'd still have problems with it at an earlier rate than some of its competitors. Its just the way it is. It will be less painful if you accept that fact and not be a bitch about it.
DeletePangit still got those small hips na parang naka bikini cut. confused looking pickup. thumbs down.
DeleteHey Guys!,,your opinion are good.Dapat nyong isipin all cars been designed and approved.
DeleteParang FOTON
ReplyDeleteUu nga noh. Cheap tignan..
DeleteLSD, traction and stability control, hill assist, TPMS, cruise control should be standard. The MIVEC on a diesel
ReplyDeletelooks promising.
But why they still did not include a differential lock?
DeleteI'm planning to buy a montero sport but if the new montero will come out and adapt this same design I'll think twice.
ReplyDeleteExcellente !
ReplyDeleteBest design..where ever you go ..in the city or on the highlands.
Futuristic appeal...good job mitsu !!!
I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or actually serious.
Deletehahahaha same here
DeleteLOL. (181PS new, 178PS old)?
ReplyDeleteThe 4N15 DI-D MIVEC engine is a newly developed engine sir. We cannot judge its performance yet against the 4D56 VGT engine. Let's wait for the reviews and test drive before we comment on the performance of the new 4N15 engine.
DeleteI just spoke with the dealer today-- they're putting the old 4D56 diesel-- it's going to be MIVEC though, and coupled with newer VGT.
DeleteHe's right about the improved VGT, but I don't think there will be MIVEC. The MIVEC is only available in the new 4N15 clean diesel engine. Still, there's some improvement to torque so that accounts for something.
DeleteI love chevy colorado engine is so amazing --- yung nag comment na after 3 years balik balik sa casa ... may bad experience ka ba sa chevy?
ReplyDeleteEver heard of chevrolet optra?
DeleteOptra is a rebadged Daewoo sir. Colorado is a pure Chevrolet designed by GM's Brazilian division and manufactured by GM's ASEAN (global markets) and American (USDM) divisions.
DeletePlaning to buy chevy trailblazer. Any comment about this midsize suv? maganda review
ReplyDeleteWag yan. Sirain yang trailblazer at colorado. Basta chevy lagi mong tatandaan, sirain yan.
DeleteHihintayin ko na lang ang navara 2015. Mas maganda ang porma kesa nitong bagong strada.
ReplyDeleteI would disagree with those who disliked the new design. Does anyone of you really like the new Dmax design? Just asking.
ReplyDeleteI find this better than the current one. The body is more balanced now unlike the present design where the cabin looks too big for the back.
I'd caution Mitsu putting too much chrome though. A subdued silver or black matte on the front would be perfect.
Both the dmax and this new strada are ugly. Its just that this strada is the ugliest of all the mainstream pick ups. It seems like its designed for aliens.
DeleteHonestly overall, the all new Strada looks good. It's just that the chrome grille is overkill. Mitsubishi can just do what Ford did with the Ranger Wildtrak's grille, make the Strada's grille in matte black finish
DeleteOr they could have taken some design cues from the lancer and asx. If we're talking about the body, well its decent, but the front fascia is a definite fail. Might be because of its aerodynamic design but its really ugly.
Delete@Anon 11:56 AM
DeleteI did come across a spyshot taken in a Thai plant, the grill was all chrome which to me is a bad attempt to make it look classy. But in these pictures I thought Mitsu backtracked on that because it looks like it's painted silver.
Grille lang ang problem . Im sure may lalabas na after market grille for this Strada so problem solved. Engine and ride comfort was never a problem for strada. Mabilis and hindi sya matagtag. Body was improved nicely except for the chrome grille. Yun lang ang problem.
DeleteButi na lang may Plasti Dip na!!! Yan lang ang simple solution.
DeleteWALA PARING SINABI SA PORMA ANG ALL NEW STRADA KAYSA FORD RANGER, KAHIT SAAN MO TINGNA SA HARAP AT LIKOD, PANGIT TALAGA, MAG RANGER KA NA LNG TESTED NA.
DeleteSa Mazda BT-50 na lang ako, same powertrain and platform ng Ford Ranger, but better looking body and standard specs.
Yung Ranger mukhang chipangga puro unpainted plastic cladding.
Deletecorrect ka jan, I've got my FORD RANGER wildtrak 2.2L last july 2014, ang sarap i drive very good speed full throttle 180 km/h, fuel cons. 8.8L/100km. wag kanang bumili ng chevy, tama yang comment nila, sirain yan.
ReplyDeleteFord==Fix Or Repair Daily.
Ndi ba matagtag compared sa hilux and strada. Strada kasi ndi matagtag eh.
DeleteI think we should all wait for the actual viewing, instead of jumping to conclusion. Sometimes pictures won't give a car justice. I did notice the vertical grill was well crafted and etched. An indication Mitsu made an effort in designing it.
ReplyDeleteThere's a caveat for Mitsu, too much chrome would make it look cheesy. Though it is said Filipinos love lots of chrome in their car. I dono how true that is.
Ok. I'll give it a chance but I won't be expecting much. Doubt it'll change my mind.
DeletePangit lahat choice nyo, di kayo marunong pumili.
What good is a fast vehicle if you'll be having troubles with it in the near future? Better to have a reliable pick up with reasonable power output than a faster one with poor quality.
DeleteI own a strada. I can't wait to test drive this new gen. Honestly ayaw ko yung fascia pero kung lalagyan ko din naman ng offroad bumper what the heck hehehe. Overall the body and interior has improved a lot based sa photos. hoping that what i see will be better sa actual.
ReplyDeleteMitsubishi triton ? More like foton lol
ReplyDeletefoton mo mukha mo
Deletefoton rin mukha mo. PUTYONG
DeleteRemember guys that this car is for off road ,so the design is for off road rugged, tha s why they design it like this.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't look rugged to me. It looks more like a weird alien crap.
DeleteDonwside is the exterior design rated at 50/100 uglier than ever, but pretty sure has roomy interior cabin & nice layout. Mitsubishi says better handling & I believe.
ReplyDeleteTherefore I will just wait for the 2016 Hilux with upgraded D4Dead engine,,hahahaha
Whatever, regardless, of looks or etc etc., for farmers like me, i demand that pinas should remove the tariff imposed on diesel engines, hence artificially bloated price when diesel just cost half its price. After a year, its value is almost 1/3 left. And for farmers like me, while its cheap to buy diesel pick up, its not worth the money anymore. Its crap, it always break, it rust easily, and the chassis could hardly bear weight. Remember, for farmers like me, kinakargahan po namin ng palay fertilzer at farm tools ang pick up. We really expect a better build quality for an overpriced kuliglig.
ReplyDeleteWhen this will be released here in the Philippines, It is highly unlikely that we will be getting the new engine. Reason? We are still at Euro 2 diesel quality. The 4N series of engines is a 3rd gen common rail by design, which uses maximum operating common rail pressure of 2000 bar. (vs 1800 max current 4d56 vgt/ fgt/ 4m41 fgt). This means tighter supply pump/ injector tolerance. Feeding this engine with Euro 2 fuel will work but till when? Expect premature SCV replacements/ nozzle and CRS pump failure if you choose to do so.
ReplyDeleteunioil sir. sila lang euro 4 diesel.. yata.
DeleteIsuzu conducted a study on all diesel fuels by the oil manufacturers all of them comply to Euro 2 only. None of them met the Euro 4 standard and please take note Unioil fuels are made via a sub-contract with the Big Three here, the same goes for Total, Phoenix and Sea oil. Our plants here in the philippines are not yet setup for Euro 4 and Euro 5 compliance.
DeleteYes. This is exactly the reason why some car manufacturers PURPOSELY detune their engines to meet EURO 2 standards - for longevity and durability reasons. Some people here fail to understand the logic, that: "x car is the best since it has MOAR Power and Torque at only "this" displacement....if you extrapolate.."
DeleteYou see, long gone are the days when displacement is proportional to power and torque. This is because of the advent of: 1. Boosting and 2: Electronic injection. Modern common rail diesels' output can be adjusted by simply changing some settings in the ECU, like timing of injection, length of injection opening, common rail pressure at x rpm... etc.
At the end of the day, I'd still pick an understressed, large displacement engine vs a highly boosted small displacement engine.
Malapit na ang release, 50k discount sa magpareserba ngayon. he he he
ReplyDeleteSus ginoo, mga pare, this mitsubishi pick up has already unsold the toyota pick up in australia as of jan 2015.
ReplyDeletecorrection. . ." outsold " pala
ReplyDeleteanyone here have seen the 2015 Navara?
ReplyDeleteany feedback about that 2015 Navara?
ReplyDeleteStrada 4d56 same drivetrain... Just disappointing. 4speed matic.
ReplyDeletePlanning to buy, kamusta kaya fuel economy nito at quality.
ReplyDeleteThere was an old saying amongst adventurer the land rover discovered Africa, Middle East and Australia. But the Land Cruiser was the one that built these nations. (WORK HORSE)
ReplyDeleteYou guys are really bunch of ignorance. The chevy in Asia specifically TrailBlazer and Colorado are having a japanese engines.Isuzu to be exact so to those of you bashing Isuzu @Antiny American ex soldier Ysp. Your colorado has isuzu oem engine re branded as Chevy of course. I dont own isuzu coz its expensive compared to Mitsu but Isuzu diesel engienes are durabke and their diesel technology always sets the standard for other diesel engines.
ReplyDeleteCheck your facts. Although the Duramax name was created as a joint venture with Isuzu, the engines used in Trailblazer and Colorado are co-developed by GM and VM Motori, and now solely owned by GM after GM sold its share of VM Motori to Fiat.
DeleteThis is the ugliest pick-up. No wonder Mitsubishi isn't a major name in the U.S. market anymore. Their products are hideous and the quality isn't at par with Toyota, Honda or Chevrolet. (In the U.S., Chevrolet ranked 10th in a quality survey conducted by J.D. Powers; Mitsubishi was way down there at 17th.) But Mitsubishi continues to profit from the narrow minds and perceptions of Pinoy car buyers who think nothing else compares with dated Adventures and L300s and bathtub Mirages. But the number of suckers may start dwindling as buyers begin to discover the superior -- and better-looking-- products of the other brands.
ReplyDeleteHindi maganda ang NAVARA 2015 PARANG FOTON TON LANG ANG DATING.
ReplyDeleteWhat make toyota number1 is their after sales service. Very good, hustle free for warranty. Organized service center. I happened to own dmax. Unfortunately run over 5000km. Sira yong clutch disc.
ReplyDeleteThen ibinaba yong transmission nya. And the good thing was it was not covered by warranty. Madali naman kasi mag cash they get from you rather than collect from manufacturer.
Asie from that, always defective power windows. And sterio.
Wow dami comments. Punta kayo showroom para makita nyo actual then test drive. I did that and eto comment ko. Magaan kasi itong bagong Strada kaya swak ang power to weight ratio. Pickup ba talaga itong bagong Strada??? Tapos yung interior ayus! Bang for the money ika nga ng iba.
Tutal ikaw naman ang magsusuffer in the end.
ReplyDeletethis sucks. its ver unlike its predecessor which was the futuristic of the lot. ito hindi ko maintindihan kung futuristic of paatras ang design. laos
ReplyDeleteinterior improved, exterior deteriorated
ReplyDeletebody of the previous strada looks classier. the 2015 strada, i would have to agree, kinda looks like a foton.
Deletejust fabricated an offroad steel bumper, and a powerfull engine 4n15
DeleteIs it just me or not?
ReplyDeleteLove the new look of Strada! Love its new body! Astig talaga ang Strada ^-^
