2015 Toyota Prius C is More Loaded, Safer
Toyota Motor Philippines is giving its subcompact hybrid, the Prius C a minor makeover for 2015 to keep it fresh. It gets both cosmetic and safety-related change which make Toyota’s entry-level hybrid much more value-oriented.
Outside, the 2015 Prius C is identifiable with its revamped front bumper. It gets an 86-like vibe with the blacked-out center portion, arrow-shaped profile, and re-designed fog lamp cluster. Signaling the change is the availability of new colors: Yellow Mica Metallic, Cool Soda Metallic, and Orange Pearl. These three new colors join Silver Metallic and White Pearl. Inside, it gets a new infotainment system with built-in navigation.
In terms of safety, it now has Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC) with cut-off switches. And during emergency braking maneuvers, it has Emergency Brake Signal which triggers the LED rear brake lamps to flash rapidly.
Mechanically, the 2015 Prius C remains unchanged. It’s powered by an Atkinson-cycle 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine (1NZ-FXE) with variable valve timing. This Euro V-compliant engine is mated to a permanent synchronous electric motor with a sealed battery pack. Power it sent to the front wheels via a CVT transmission and it features front independent MacPherson Struts and rear torsion beam axle suspension.
Prices for the 2015 Toyota Prius C start at P 1,537,000 (P 1,552,000 for Pearl White) while the fully-optioned “Full Option” Prius C with its leather seats and other luxury amenities goes for P 1,587,000 (P 1,602,000 for the White Pearl).
