Volvo Introduces 2015 S60 R-Design and XC60 R-Design
Volvo Philippines is launching a pair of new sporty variants of its highly popular S60 and XC60 models: the R-Design. Both models promise a blend of sporty appearance, a dynamic driving-focused chassis, and a powerful engine.
Both the S60 R-Design and XC60 R-Design features a re-designed front end with a frameless “Tech Matte” black grille with high-gloss black stripes. It’s highlighted by a silk metal diagonal line and the R-Designed emblem. The daytime running lights in the outer corners create a hunkered, road-hugging impression. At the back, they get unique diffusers with aero fins and R-Design tailpipes.
Reinforcing the R-Design’s sporty flair, the interior features black nubuck textile and perforated leather. The R-Design logo with a blue ‘R’ is embroidered on the seats as well. The trademark Adaptive Digital Display is standard. This system, unique to Volvo, replaces the traditional instrument cluster into a re-configurable digital display with three layouts: Elegance, Eco, and Performance.
Underneath, the R-Design modes have re-tuned suspensions. On the S60, for instance, it’s been lowered by 15 millimeters while the spring stiffness is up 15 percent. R-Design models have rear monotube dampers and stiffer bushings which equates to better and more precise handling.
The Volvo R-Design models are set to arrive in Philippine showroom in the next few months.
