Hyundai Veloster, ix35 Fuell Cell on Display at Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2015
Hyundai, the official mobility partner of Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2015, is showcasing its vision of innovation that promotes energy-efficient motoring. Working hand-in-hand with Shell, Hyundai is aiming to both educate and encourage key stakeholders of the automotive industry in taking the earth-friendly route.
This year, Hyundai is showing off the Veloster at its pavilion. Powered by a 1.6-liter GDi or Gasoline Direct Injection engine, the Veloster is the Korean carmaker’s example that frugal can also be fun. The downsized GDi engine offers a shorter, more precise fuel delivery contributing to lower emissions and higher efficiency.
Aside from the Veloster, Hyundai also has the ix35 Fuel Cell vehicle. This zero emissions vehicle uses hydrogen as its main source of fuel. Reacting with oxygen, it produces a chemical reaction that allows it to generate electricity that drives the car. The ix35 can go up to 600 kilometers between refills and takes only three minutes to tank up compared to an electric vehicle which can take hours.
The display of these two vehicles aside, Hyundai is also educating the public via interactive exhibits. Hyundai is also giving away goodies during pop quizzes throughout the day. The Shell Eco-Marathon Asia runs today until March 1 at the Luneta Grandstand in Manila.
