MIAS 2015: Chevrolet Trax Set to Challenge Ford EcoSport
Chevrolet is the first to launch a fighter to Ford’s best-selling EcoSport with a Philippine market sneak peek of its Trax at the 2015 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) at the World Trade Center on April 9 to 12, 2015.
Unlike Ford’s offer, the Trax is a true global B-segment (sub-compact) crossover that’s sold in over 140 markets including the United States. It rides on Chevy’s GM Gamma II platform (shared with the Sonic) and is powered by a 1.6 or 1.8-liter 4-cyliner engine gasoline engine and a 1.7-liter turbo diesel. Transmission options are: 5-speed or 6-speed manual, and a 6-speed automatic. The Trax is also a slightly larger vehicle with a length of 4,248-mm and a wheelbase of 2,555-mm.
According to Chevrolet, the Trax combines style and design that appeals to the burgeoning small SUV market while offering a distinctive and spacious interior that can comfortably seat five. It will also offer power, practicality, and stability of a sedan and the quality, safety, and performance of an SUV.

hmmmm...
ReplyDeleteThe problem with Chevrolet is that their service sucks, their parts are expensive and their vehicles are gas guzzlers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up.
DeleteMatured and professional men take criticism and opinions...
DeleteDo you owned a chevy?
Deletehave u owned a chevy?
Deletebetter wait for honda hrv
ReplyDeleteFail.
ReplyDeleteThe end.
@kenneth - you SHUT UP! this is a PUBLIC forum of opinions, dammit. everyone's entitled to their own opinion here. If you measure up to your own bonehead standards, then make your own FORUM and WEBSITE!
DeleteOther car-related sites says TCCCI is bringing the Trax in and will be shown at MIAS to gauge public reaction before actually distributing it. So if the public shows a keen interest in purchasing the Trax, just then we will see if it really is a challenge to the Ecosport, otherwise, that's maybe the first and last we will actually get to see the Trax.
ReplyDeletei read that one too... but c'mon, public interest from a motor show? i guess if they have confidence in their product (specs/price), which apparently is the first direct competitor to the ecosport, they'll bring it in. otherwise, keep the garbage where it belongs :-)
DeleteIt's just a business strategy, bringing in and selling a product that no one will buy is a poor business tactic. TCCCI just put it bluntly and to the point but still giving the buying public a choice of what cars they would like to have and buy. Unlike what Kia is planning on doing, if you read the sites, they would only sell Kia cars that are easily sold here in the PH and not the ones that people say they like to have, in essence, "you buy what we want to sell".
DeleteI prefer this over the 3rd-world only Eco Sport for the simple reason that this is a true global product that would be sold even in the US, meaning it would pass 1st-world safety & emissions standards and would have 1st-world standard features available. Contrast that with the EcoSport & Avanza where you could easily see where they cut corners.
ReplyDeleteThe EcoSport is also sold in Europe, the reason it's not sold in the US is Ford of North America is currently prioritizing models that sell well in their home market. Being a One Ford model, Ford said it can easily adapt it for the US market if they feel the need to enter the sub-compact crossover segment in the US.
DeleteGot a Chevy Spin as a company car previously...FC is way too chaotic be it city driving or long drive...Bringing-in Trax would mean that Spin will be discontinued.
ReplyDeleteActually the Spin, together with the Sonic, was already discontinued last June 15 of this year. I was planning to get one sana but when I heard about this, I changed my mind and opted on buying an EcoSport instead.
ReplyDeleteHi. so what can u say about your ecosport?
DeleteI own a Chev Captiva, I drive it daily coz' it gas efficient, safe to drive, comfy and sassy. My honda for coding only to save gas:) own one and compare.

ReplyDeletei owned a chevy but now i don't ... i guess wont be back. chevy has some reliability and service issues. product is great, except the engine and parts are not as durable as others, not fuel efficient, service is expensive, parts are not available, then they also stop some models after launch so some models that one may have bought will be a discontinued model
ReplyDeletei previously own a chevy optra parts are expensive, high fuel consumption, service sucks they even replace my spare tire with a steel rim so disgusted. chevy always discontinued their model after 6 to 7 years that will be a big headache for an owner because of spare parts unavailability. better buy a trusted brand for your peace of mind
