Toyota Continues Strong Sales in February
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) sustains its strong sales as seen in its February performance. Based on the most recent CAMPI report, the number one automotive company in the country records a 28% increase versus the company’s figures from the same period of last year. Moreover, this is TMP’s highest February sales to date at 8,870 units. With a market share of 42.9%, TMP continues to uphold its lead amongst other makes.
The strong sales of Toyota last month was again possible through the continuous high demand of its best-selling vehicle in the country, the Vios, with sales of 2,012 units. February’s sales were further reinforced by other strong models in Toyota’s line up such as the Fortuner, Innova, Wigo, Hilux, Avanza and Corolla Altis.
On the other hand, Toyota’s luxury brand, Lexus, recorded 60 units last month. Leading the pack are its newly launched luxury compact cross-over, the NX and its best-selling luxury sedan, the IS. All in all, this is Lexus’s highest year-to-date (YTD) sales since 2009.
In a statement, TMP President Mr. Michinobu Sugata expressed: “Toyota experienced positive sales in just the start of the year due to the market’s positive outlook. This year, the industry is forecasted to remain favorable in terms of sales growth…With that, we can expect that this trend will remain as the Philippines shows improvement in its economy and specifically the automotive industry.”
