Ford Reveals "Ultimate" Ranger in 2015 Wildtrak (w/ Video)

After showing off its bolder, smarter Ranger at the 36th Bangkok International Motor Show and giving you 7 Things You Can't Miss, Ford finally pulled the curtains off the ultimate version of its venerable and best-selling pickup truck: the 2015 Wildtrak.

Designed as the flagship of the Ranger lineup, the Ranger Wildtrak is re-worked to emphasize toughness and sophistication in its design. To this end, the chrome trapezoidal grille in the regular Ranger has been swapped to a new dark liquid metallic gray. Flanking it are projector-type headlamps. The same dark liquid metallic gray accents are found on the side mirrors, door handles, side air vents, bed rails, and tail lamps.

Like before, the 2015 Ranger sits on 18-inch machined alloy wheels and is set apart with Wildtrak graphics and the signature orange color, but of a slightly different shade. Of course, it’s available in less shouty shades such as Cool White, Black Mica, Aluminum Metallic, and Metropolitan Gray.

Inside, the same orange accentuated interior continues with Wildtrak specific seats complete with 8-way power adjustment for the driver.

In terms of tech, the Ranger Wildtrak is available with a wide-array of driver-assist technologies such as Lane Keeping Aid, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Alert, Front and Rear Parking Assist, and Tire Pressure Monitoring System.

Mechanically, it has a re-tuned suspension system for additional comfort and better handling. Aside from that, it remains unchanged from the 2015 Ranger and this means it has a water wading depth of 800-mm and a 230-mm ground clearance. It also has an Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS). Engine choices are: 3.2-liter Duratorq five-cylinder with 200 horsepower and 470 Nm of torque or a 2.2-liter Duratorq with 160 horsepower and 385 Nm of torque.

Ford will announce availability of the 2015 Ranger and Ranger Wildtrak at a later date.
