Honda Cars Philippines Updates City for 2016 Model Year
A year since the 4th generation has been introduced locally, HCPI, never ceased in constantly updating its sole locally manufactured vehicle. Last night an updated version of the City was introduced to address customers’ need for a built-in navigation system.
The New City features new audio head unit systems across the line-up. The VX and VX+ variants get an Audio Visual Navigation (AVN) system presented via a seven-inch touch screen display that allows intuitive access to all features and functions.
The AVN system is equipped with Garmin navigation and also offers convenient features such 3D map viewing, next turn information (distance), speed limit reminder, over speed warning, Expressway Exit Guide and Photoreal Junction View when encountering complex intersections. For added customer convenience, Honda Dealers Point of Interest (POI) is embedded in the AVN system to allow users to search quickly for all Honda sales and service locations nationwide. The AVN also allows one-touch access to emergency health, traffic, and public safety contact numbers.
The new audio system is also equipped with different multimedia functions such as a DVD and CD player, hands-free telephone (HFT) via Bluetooth, voice command features, iPod/iPhone connectivity, USB ports, and FM/AM radio.
The audio system for the E variants on the other hand, features an advanced 2-DIN Audio unit with capabilities such as Bluetooth connectivity, USB plug-in, CD player, and FM/AM radio.
Under the hood, the New City is still powered by Honda’s 1.5 liter i-VTEC engine with its Earth Dreams Technology, Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT). The new CVT allows seamless gear shifting, gives instantaneous throttle response and delivers exceptional fuel efficiency. To further realize remarkable fuel efficiency, the New City E CVT and above variants, are equipped with the Eco Assist system which features the ECON mode. Engaging the ECON mode controls the engine, drive-by-wire, transmission, and air-conditioner to further improve the already outstanding fuel efficiency of the New City.
More than the improvement of its fuel efficiency, the New City was engineered to be a clean and green driving machine. The New City has been applied for Euro IV compliance, waiting for approval from the government. Conformity to Euro-4 level of emission translates to reduction in emissions of hazardous particles that will help mitigate the occurrence of ozone depletion and global warming.
The New City retails at: 1.5 VX+ Navi CVT (PHP 988,000), 1.5 VX Navi CVT (PHP 898,000), 1.5 E CVT (PHP 789,000), 1.5 E MT (PHP 759,000).
The New City will be available in the following colors: Gold Brown Metallic (for VX+ Navi CVT & VX Navi CVT), Carnelian Red Pearl (for VX Navi CVT & E CVT). Crystal Black Pearl (for VX Navi CVT, E variants), Modern Steel Metallic, Taffeta White.
For those who would like to customize their City for added style, HCPI has accessory packages available that provide the customer with different options. HCPI will offer Modulo—Honda’s accessory brand—is offered in either Aero Sports Package or Utility Package.
Modulo Aero Sports Accessory Package includes Modulo front grille, rear under spoiler, side under spoiler, front under spoiler, a wing-type tail gate spoiler, illuminated side step garnish, and Modulo emblem. The Modulo Utility Accessory Package will have door visor, door side protectors, seatback holders, tablet holders, trunk cargo hook, and a trunk tray for added customer convenience.
MUGEN Accessories and packages will also be available. The MUGEN accessory package will include: a MUGEN sports front grille, a MUGEN front under spoiler, a MUGEN rear under spoiler, and MUGEN side under spoilers. Customers can opt to add a MUGEN 17-inch alloy wheels.

Sir Uly, Does it still come with reverse camera?
ReplyDeleteYes it does.
DeleteHi Sir Uly, is it possible to upgrade the existing audio system of 1.5 E CVT model into AVN (Audio Visual Navigation) system as features equipped in 1.5 VX lineup?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately no. The new AVN system is Garmin based and is a completely new head unit. But I'm sure you can get it as an accessory, but this will be pricey I'm sure.
DeleteI wonder if this headunit can be fitted into a previous gen Honda City??
ReplyDeleteHello Sir Uly. I'm torn between the Honda City VX and Honda Jazz VX. Having almost the same price point but different car class, could you please help me decide which one to buy (I'm going to buy this week btw)? We are a family of 4. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIt's actually very common to cross shop between the City and Jazz given it's the same engine, platform, and all. But here's how you can look at it:
DeleteThe City is a bit more luxurious and this shows in its slightly better interior spec (the only one to offer a leather steering wheel and now, the navigation package for the VX). The suspension tuning is also plusher than the Jazz. However, the Jazz gives a much more flexible interior with the ULT seats and sportier handling.
Personally, I'd get the Jazz because of the flexibility offered by its ULT seats. I would trade the less luxury features and firmer ride for this. In fact, because of the smaller price difference between the VX and VX+ Jazz models, I'd spring the additional cash to get the VX+ and enjoy the safety of 6 airbags and VSA.
I think only the 6 airbags, and seatbelt reminder are the difference between VX and VX+. I'd go for VX since 4 additional airbags for 40k is not worth it.
DeleteAlso I'd go for Jazz than City since specs wise, Jazz has the advantage for the VX variant since it was released later than the City. I think City's VX variant doesn't have VSA, HSA, ESS and other features that Jazz VX variant have. There is a huge difference in City's VX and VX+ variant.
Jazz VX+ also has VSA, HSA, and ESS as you mentioned. VX doesn't.
DeleteAs for the City VX+, the reason for the hefty increase is because of the leather seats. VX+ models get them. VX doesn't.
Damn. Honda should get their shit straight. The assigned features for their cars are confusing as hell.
Deleteis the site wrong? http://www.hondaphil.com/model/jazz/specifications/ Jazz VX has HSA VSA and ESS
DeleteIf VSA, HSA, and ESS are now standard on the VX then that's good news. That means they actually improved it over a year ago.
DeleteWhoa. I double checked...Jazz VX does have VSA, HSA, and ESS as standard even from before. So I guess the VX is better value than VX+.
DeleteTotz 6 airbags is good for that amount, it makes your family/friends/passenger/you safer, its better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.
DeleteSir uly, yup i think those are already standard in the jazz vx variant. I was also confused at first since VX and VX+ variants should have the same specs in different cars. But i also noticed the upgrade from VX to VX+ variant in the City is about 90k compared to the Jazz which is 40k. I think the price goes to the VSA HSA ESS, etc.
DeleteAs for the 6 airbags, I do think 40k is worth it for the 4 additional airbags if you have a family. But for a solo driver, I'd rather spend the 40k on the Modulo kits than 4 airbags :D though that's my opinion :D
Yeah...I saw that in the old Jazz article. My bad.
DeleteAnd you're right. The specs between the Jazz VX/VX+ and City VX/VX+ are confusing. But thanks for pointing that out.
The way I see it is I prefer to spend on things like ABS, VSA (active safety features) compared to passive safety features. I agree that I'll likely fork out P 40,000 for the additional 4 airbags, but since I can get the VSA, HSA, and ESS on the Jazz VX, I can live with that.
But...P 40,000 isn't much. If you can spring for it to get the additional airbags, why not. Else, ask for an additional discount...who knows...you might be able to get the VX+ close to the price of a VX!
Any news when will Jazz have the Navi system?
DeleteSir Uly which has more legroom hiproom and shoulder room the Honda City or Jazz?
DeleteI'd say roughly the same, but for some reason...I prefer the rear seats of the City. I don't know if it has to do with the fixed bench or something, but they feel more comfortable over the Jazz.
Deletethanks sir uly, I think the jazz is perfect for me kasi you can fold the seats and good for cargo. I just wished that mobilio and avanza had this long mode and tall mode like honda jazz
DeleteHonda City vs Honda Jazz... I hate to say this but the City feels more solid to me than the Jazz. Try checking out the doors between the two. Jazz doors feels like that of a Brio, while City doors feels like that of an Accord.
DeleteHi Sir Uly,
ReplyDeleteDoes adding mugen package on the current city will make the car "lowered"
The MUGEN kit is basically just body kits and mags. So no, it won't lower the suspension.
DeleteIt MIGHT lower your ground clearance though.
DeleteSir Uly,
ReplyDeleteDo you have any videos or links regarding the review of this all new city. I'm planning to buy my first car. Any suggestions? Im torn between mazda 2 and this all new city.
You're better of with the Mazda 2.
DeleteReason?
DeleteLAHAT NG TAXI COMPANIES GUSTO NILA ANG HONDA CITY NA GAWING TAXI.
ReplyDeleteDo you have evidence to support your claims?
Deletesir good evening! im planning to buy a car. im looking for a car that will actually save me money. im planning on getting this City vx 1,5L vs the Hyundai accent 2015 HB. which is better? performance wise and FC wise? cause i already know that the city looks way better interior and exterior design. thanks
ReplyDeleteIt's a no-brainer. Get the honda city. Korean cars are way too crappy and overpriced nowadays.
ReplyDeletesir wala pa po bang review sa honda HRV?
ReplyDeleteSir uly which is better.. honda city 2016 e cvt, vx cvt, mobilio v cvt or mobilio rs. Thanks
ReplyDeleteHi Sir Uly! I'm torn between the Honda City VX and Mazda2 V. I'm hoping you can help me decide which one to buy. Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteMe too! LOL
DeleteIf you're going to buy the Honda City Vx, get the Mazda 2 R, not the V. The R variant has the most value, more advanced vehicle than the Honda City and has more cool stuff(HUD,off white leather seats or black leather with red stripes, more advanced infotainment system, etc.) But if you have a family, get the Honda City because it is more spacious than the Mazda 2.
DeleteWhich Is better honda city vx or honda city 1.5e
ReplyDeletecomparison pls ty
Honda City VX
ReplyDelete- Good Interior Space (can comfortably seat 3 people at the back)
- Good Exterior Looks (simple, sharp, elegant)
- With Navi System and Rear Camera
- Start Stop Engine button (this is for anti-theft purposes)
- 16 inch alloy wheels (can opt for the 17 inch MD8 Mugen wheels)
- Silent Engine, Good Power, Fuel Efficient: No traffic-18 to 22 km/l Heavy Traffic/Bumper to Bumper: 7km/l to 8km/l
- Easily, the best commute car a person can have...
honda city vx or mazda 2 sedan??? ano po mas ok and bakit??? we're planning to buy our first car. i have 1 toddler and 1 more baby on the way,, tnx..
ReplyDeleteAs a Mazda fan, choose the Honda City because you have a family, you'll definitely need the space. Otherwise, choose the Mazda 2 if you're a bachelor.
DeleteHi Uly,
ReplyDeleteJust bought the 2016 model recently, noticed that the front grill is now Chrome finish. Later models are Platinum for VX and VX+ and Chrome for E variants. I don't get much information from Honda web and other internet source. Can you confirm if this is part of the upgrade? I would love to have those Platinum finish
2016 model? I checked with Honda Batangas and they told me 2016 model maybe release this coming October.
Deletewhich model you bought? Im also planning to buy 1.5E M/T...
DeleteSir Uly. We are planning to get the E CVT. So far, are there any negative reviews about this model with regards to transmission etc? Thank you so much for your feedback.
ReplyDeleteSir Uly, I have question.
ReplyDelete1. For the built-in Navi system of VX and VX+ is there a monthly or yearly fee for using navi or it is for free for life?
2. If I choose E variant, can I change the wheels to 16 inch same as the VX if so how much do i have to add?
3.Is there a discount if I buy full payment cash?
Thank you
Hi Sir Uly,
ReplyDeleteWala ba talaga door autolock feature ang city 2016
Hi Sir Uly,
DeleteI have the same question. I recently bought 2016 Honda City VX and found out that it has no autolock feature. Some says that it can be programmed but the instructions I found in the internet seem not working.
Thank you for your help.
Un 1.5 E CVT Special Edition nila meron speed-sensing Auto Door Lock system. Sana nagkaron din special edition un VX.
DeleteI talked to my agent. May nabibiling device or a chip that can be installed for the autolock. it's worth Php2500.
DeleteHi, how about auto unlock? my friends new City does not auto-unlock when he shift it to P or shuts down the engine.
DeleteI'm sure how it is with the City, but I remember you can change several vehicle settings through the Touchscreen Audio Display.
Deletehi Sir Uly,
ReplyDeletewhat would be the best color for honda city?
I think that would be entirely up to you. I'm usually a fan of white or silver/gray, but those are largely predictable and boring choices. But that's me.
DeleteI'm deciding between Honda City E CVT vs Ford Fiesta Trend, which is better po? This will be my first car purchase so would want to make sure that I am getting the best for my hard earned money, thank

ReplyDeleteHi Sir Ulysses, does the E CVT come with reverse camera? Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI think it comes "camera ready". As far as I know, only the VX and VX+ come with reverse camera.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteHi Sir Ulysses,
ReplyDeleteWe recently went to a Honda Store and I'm currently torn between getting the VX Navi and E Modulo. Will getting an E Modulo and buying 16" mags and a similar Navi unit suffice?
The VX Navi has a good stance but I'm turned off by the hefty price tag at 898K.
Thanks.
Good morning. Would like to get your advice between a honda city or honda jazz. I just want to know if both have the same fuel efficient technology for their basic automatic model.
ReplyDeleteThanks
hi sir uly,
ReplyDeletejust bought a honda city vx, just wondering how can i do video playbacks on it? and my hinda vx doesnt have an hdmi port, so how can i mirror my iphone5 to it?
Sir,
ReplyDeletePlease give the difference between the Honda City 2015 vs 2016 per feature. I am planning to buy a 2015 model (second hand) but if there is a big difference with the 2016 then I will opt to buy it brand new.
Greetings,
ReplyDeleteMay you please give your opinion about the fuel efficient of 2016 Honda City 1.5E CVT. I can't decide whether to buy the new Toyota Vios or Honda City. My friend told me (who owns a Honda city) that the fuel consumption of Honda gets bigger than before.
This is based on my personal (limited) experience in driving my 10-month old Honda City CVT. 7-8 kpl for city driving and 16 above for highways. Pero kung masipag ka to shift from D to N and vice versa every now and then, 10 above for city driving is possible. I am not sure nga lang if that is a good practice.
DeleteHi Sir Uly,
ReplyDeleteAsk ko lng po ilan ang ideal gas consumption ng honda city 2016? Observation kc namin 7 km per liter nung nag full tank kami and nung nag pa refill uli. Nka activate naman po ung econ and 23 degrees and 3 bars ung aircon. Maka 10km per liter manlang tanggap ko na eh. Anu po kaya pde namin gawin? Thank you po.
As mileage goes up, so as the kpl. Pag brand-new kasi the engine is still adjusting that's why kpl is lower. There are also other factors to consider like tire pressure (check mo rin), driving habit, AC, and car load.

ReplyDeletefor VX+Navi does it have hdmi inpup? for mobilephone mirroring, Thanks po
ReplyDeleteSir Uly,with the new honda city 2016 per specs po kasi on e models wala po syang foglamp, reverse camera and map lights. If we opt to buy these models ang casa mag install ba ng mga additionalaccessories mentioned without the the warranty void?thanks
ReplyDelete** e variant i mean...
ReplyDeleteplanning to buy the E M/T variant sa 3rd Q ng 2016, kung may manual sana sa higher variant maganda kaso nasa base lang ang manual so I have to go with that, anyway for me, ung mga additional features and accessories sa higher variants are unnecessary, would not trade those posh accessories for the joy and "feel" of driving a manual... =)
ReplyDeletePaddle shift
DeleteHi Sir, is it possible to upgrade the existing audio system of 1.5 VX CVT 2014 model into AVN (Audio Visual Navigation) system as features equipped in the new honda city 1.5 vx 2015 & present model & how much it will cost me?thanks in advance.
ReplyDeleteHi sir I already ordered honda city cvt but I heared ders some prob. Its true ba?
ReplyDelete10 months of using it, no prob at all. Hopefully tuloy tuloy.
DeleteGood day! Sino po sa inyo may 2016 city na E M/T? My comment po ba kayo sa clutch? Yung sakin po kasi parang ang hirap timplahin ng clutch. Tnx!
ReplyDeleteHi sir. I'm planning to buy my first car this March. I choose among Ford Hatchback Trend 1.5L PS, Honda City 1.5 E CVT Special Edition, and Honda City 1.5 E CVT. After checking the car specs, I decided to go for Honda City. Can you please tell me the the difference bet City 1.5 E CVT Special Edition and Honda City 1.5 E CVT? Another thing, does CVT works like A/T? Thank you.
ReplyDeleteCVT works like A/T in such a way that you don't need to manually shift gears but the overall feel is different for both. You would notice that gears don't change, technically, when using CVT.
DeleteHi Sir, do you know where can i get information regarding ground clearance of 2016 VX Navi modulo variant? Planning to buy soon but still deciding i will get the modulo variant. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteTheoretically vertical (ground) clearance will not be affected by Modulo kits but give it around 1 to 2 centimeters. Base trims (E, VX and VX+) say vertical clearance to be 15 cm.
DeleteHonda Mobilio RS Navi or Ford Ecosport Titanium? First Time car buyer
ReplyDeletePersonally? Get the Honda Mobilio over the EcoSport.
DeleteJust checked out Honda city in another country. I wonder why the city models (in the the Phils) don't have roof opening? It must be really cool to have those in our city.
ReplyDeleteeed your help guys. Planning to buy city 1.5 E MT kaso torn ako between white and modern steel color. Di ba parang "taxi" yung white color? Saka i maintain? Saka keyless entry naman lahat ng variant di ba. First time car buyer here
ReplyDeleteHere's the City in Tafetta White:
Deletehttp://www.carguide.ph/2015/12/5-reasons-why-honda-city-is-great-first.html
Doesn't look like a taxi IMHO.
White dulls over time, so you need to take good care of it. Any damage repair will also be noticeable.
And yes, keyless entry is standard but push-button start/stop is only on higher grade variants.

Hi sir Uly... Looking to buy the 2016/2017 City VX+Navi CVT, but I'm torn between Taffeta White and Golden Brown. I'm female, married with kids. I have researched a lot and noted that the previous is safer on the road than any other colors. Pero nabasa ko rin comment mo sa taas saying "White dulls over time, so you need to take good care of it. Any damage repair will also be noticeable..", kaya nagdadalawang-isip na namn ako sa white. So if ever po, ano po kaya ang pinaka magandang kulay next to white, in your own opinion po sir. Thanks. Will wait for ur reply po. :)

Hi Wendy,
DeleteThat's quite true. White is actually quite hard to maintain especially if it's exposed to our harsh sun for a long time. The main problem is that the dulling rating differs between the metal and plastic parts. This is the reason why some older white cars will have bumpers that look more yellowish compared to their paint.
Detailing them regularly will slow down the process, but it's not reversible. Think of it as UV damage.
Copy that, sir Uly. So, palagay nyo po, kung hindi nalng white ang kukunin, ano po kaya 2nd best color for the VX+? Yung opinyon nyo po. Magkaron lang po ako ng basis sa decision-making. Hehe. Thanks in advance for ur time, sir Uly. Mabuhay po! :)
DeleteFor me, vehicle color is a matter of taste. If you want easiest maintenance, go with silver. It's boring for sure, pero that's the most painless to match in case you need to repaint it and it also hides dirt or scratches quite well.
DeleteHmmm... I'll take note of that. Thank u so much for ur quick response, sir Uly. God bless. :)
