Foton Philippines is getting two new additions to its MPV/van line-up with the formal launch of the Gratour and Toano which were unveiled alongside the Toplander at the Big Show 2015 in World Trade Center in Pasay City. According to the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in China, both the Toano and Gratour are destined to make a splash thanks to its space, utility, and flexibility.
Foton Gratour
Bearing a small footprint, the Gratour now becomes Foton’s most affordable offering. The minivan offers either a seating configuration good for 7 or 8 adults making it a perfect fit for Filipino families. Solely available as the V5 model, it comes with Foton’s first-ever local application of a gasoline engine. The in-house developed Euro 4 compliant 1.2-liter G03 engine has 85 horsepower and 112 Nm of torque is mated to a five-speed manual. It’s specifically designed for fuel economy, low noise and emissions, and high reliability.
The dual sliding doors open up to what Foton calls best-in-class passenger space in the minivan category. It has a two-tone interior with highly legible instrumentation with both analog and digital gauges. The Gratour also has 13 storage spaces scattered throughout the cabin as well as a simple FM radio with USB sound system.
The Foton Gratour retails for P 490,000 for both the 7- and 8-seater models.
Foton Toano
Named after an Italian municipality, the Toano is Foton’s biggest and most powerful full-sized van designed by Foton partner Mercedes-Benz. Tractive effort is provided by the same engine found in the Thunder and Toplander: a 2.8-liter ISF Cummins CRDi Euro IV engine with 160 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque. The sole gearbox is a six-speed manual enabling it to achieve up to 11.5 km/L according to Foton.
Available in various seating configurations, the Toano maxes out with 15 seats and can still accommodate cargo and luggage. It comes with a slew of safety features such as ABS, EBD as well as rear cameras and sensors.
The Foton Toano comes in at P 1,688,000.

Foton Toano kind of looks like the Ford Transit from the States. Good 18 seater for the Philippines, though. Filipinos love traveling in large groups with friends and family.
ReplyDeletethe gratour is cheap as dirt, and i think its because it is whats its made of, let me put it into perspective the suzuki swift has more hp and torque with almost the same curb wt and can carry 5, now with a weaker engine add 7/8 passenger to it with a bigger body do the math, if your going to drive this most probably end up high revving and stuck at 1st or 2nd gear alot at a top speed of 30kph at a level plane and not bothering climbing steep inclinations like speed humps. at 490k dont loose hope continue saving up for a more capable car like the ertiga or toyota., by the way did anyone saw that there was a hi-ace look alike foton van behind the toano crap? and did you noticed that theres no armrest on its captains seats? and there was a mention of mercedes benz, it will be like
ReplyDeletefoton: hey mercedes what do you think of my engine?
mercedes: its *%#@^%$# crap!!!
foton: hey thanks for your opinion
advertised as: "designed by Foton partner Mercedes-Benz"
Actually Mercedes-Benz is a technology partner of Foton so it's not just advertising.
Deletefrom the makers of MB100 vans remember? maybe some of them went to start foton? just saying.
Deletedamn. that mercedes benz van was one of the worst vehicles EVER
Deletethumbs up for sir Ulysses Ang for allowing me to rant about this car and not taking it down and still posting it and even taking time to reply on my comment unlike the other similar web site which bares the name autoindustriya.com which begs the differ car journalist from mere car representatives,.
ReplyDeleteTrue. Any SLIGHT negative comment you make about a car on that website, it gets removed by those super sensitive pansy admins.
Deletechina products?
ReplyDeleteEngine as cummins is good but the structure is made in china i cannot guarantee especially for the brake system
ReplyDeleteI remember riding a similar van while touring Shanghai a couple of years ago. I don't remember the brand but it was just a van and the driver was very rude, as most people in Shanghai are.
ReplyDeleteAs usual the Toano is a rival of JAC Sunray while the Gratour is a rival also of BAIC MZ40/45 as well
ReplyDeleteActually because BAIC and Foton are under the same umbrella company.
DeleteI am planning to buy foton gratour. Would you pls help me about the pros and cons of the unit? I need an honest evaluation of this car for my family. I've been looking for affordable car yet that would at least last for 5 to 7 years of use.
