The end of the turbocharged Subaru wagon is greatly exaggerated as Motor Image has finally confirmed the arrival of the Levorg for the Southeast Asia region, including the Philippines with
While you wait for our First Drive impressions, here’s what we can tell you.
With a name that’s derived from a combination of the words, “Legacy”, “Revolution”, and “Touring”, the Levorg offers the spaciousness and practicality of a tourer (wagon) with the performance of a sports car. It’s Subaru’s aim to provide driving enjoyment while still being highly practical.
Available with a single power unit: a 1.6-liter Flat-4 engine with direct injection and turbocharger technology, the Levorg offers performance figures similar to that of a comparable 2.5-liter normally-aspirated wagon. With 170 horsepower on tap and 250 Nm of peak torque, it has enough power to keep enthusiasts entertained while having great fuel efficiency for the more practical-minded (up to 13.51 km/L). It comes standard with a 6-speed Lineartronic CVT transmission coupled with Subaru’s trademark Symmetrical AWD as well as Vehicle Dynamics Control with Active Torque Vectoring. It also comes with Subaru SI-Drive with two modes: Intelligent and Sport. Underneath, the Levorg features a re-tuned electric power steering system as well as various body and suspension stiffeners to realize a more direct steering and body responsiveness.
Outside, the main challenge of designers was to come up with a silhouette that’s sporty and sleek without compromising on cargo space. The result is the Levorg’s distinctive profile. It combines styling cues found in both the WRX and Legacy. For instance, it has the trademark hood scoop and LED headlights with hawk eye positioning lights. However, unique to the Levorg is a new three-dimensional front bumper giving a more energetic look. It also gains a new hexagonal grille with horizontal elements and 225/45R18 tires at each corner.
The sleekly styled Levorg comes with an ergonomically sporty interior honed through decades of designing wagons. Piano black finishes, metallic-toned accents create a rich space while the D-shaped steering wheel immediately lends to a fun-to-drive attitude. More than just being athletic, it comes with an abundance of space. Even with the rear seats up, it has 522 liters of cargo space—easily eclipsing some crossovers. Furthermore, it comes with nifty features such as automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, a touch screen audio system with voice recognition, push-button engine start/stop, and many more.
In terms of safety, the Levorg uses 980MPa high-tensile steel to achieve world-class collision safety (Five Star Overall Rating in 2014-2015 Japan New Car Assessment Program) while keeping its weight down. Furthermore, it has 7 airbags as standard as well as the usual ABS, EBD, brake assist, and rear parking camera.
According to representatives from Motor Image Pilipinas, they will also sell the entry-level 1.6 GT alongside the top-of-the-line 1.6 GT-S but only in limited quantities. Still, expect prices for both models to range between P 1,700,000 to P 1,800,000. The Philippine launch will be in December of this year.

ReplyDeleteHmmm....Focus 1.5L Ecoboost or Civic 1.5L VTEC turbo or Levorg 1.6L Turbo AWD? Which one to pick?
ReplyDeleteLevorg AWD!!!
Delete135mm ground clearance?
DeleteNot in the same category. Civic and Focus are compact. Based on the dimensions, the Levorg looks like its a midsize wagon. The Levorg will be priced higher than those two.
DeleteNope, I take it back.. looks like the dimensions of the Levorg are compact. I hope it will be priced reasonably. This looks really promising.
DeleteHow much is its Price for PH market?
ReplyDeleteFilipinos will have a hard time pronouncing that. Subaru should just change the name to Libog.

DeleteBaka si Lt Cmdr Geordi La Forge from TNG.
DeleteStill Mazda 6 Sports Wagon over this.
ReplyDeleteI think it's going to compete with the Mazda 6 Wagon. Its advantage would be its turbocharged engine; though it's smaller in displacement. I guess price would be somewhere between P1.7-P1.9M, given its features.
ReplyDeleteNah, P1.1M-P1.3M!
DeleteAeron might be right on the pricing. The cheapest Impreza sedan on their line-up already cost close to P1.3M.
DeleteWhich is better Toyota Altis 2.0 vs Ford Focus 1.5 Ecoboost vs Honda Civic 1.5 Vtec Turbo ?
ReplyDeleteLooks promising. Suspense nga lang ang price. Sana naman priced just right
ReplyDeleteFord Ecosport is the best of the best
ReplyDeletesoon, this will be the platform for an sti wagon conversion compared to the forester sj being converted to sti
ReplyDeleteLibog is a cebuano term for confusing... not horny!
ReplyDeleteCommon guys, what's advertised is just engine HP which would be different from wheel HP. I'd rather pick this than the other cars on this category. It's still a WRX anyway, just with a smaller DIT engine
