Subaru Launches Outback 2.5i-S for PHL Market
After giving us a taste of its upcoming Levorg sports tourer, Motor Image Pilipinas (MIPI), the official distributor of Subaru vehicles in the Philippines is showing even more wagon love with the introduction of a new variant of its flagship Outback crossover.
Joining the well-received 3.6R-S is a more affordable 2.5i-S variant specifically aimed for those who want to enjoy the comfort and refinement of the Outback but don’t need a 260 horsepower engine under the hood. The new Outback 2.5i-S comes equipped with Subaru’s low-friction FB25 2.5-liter Flat-4 pushing 175 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and 235 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Like the 3.6R-S, the 2.5i-S’s engine comes mated solely with the Lineartronic CVT.
Priced at P 2,068,000 (or P 1,968,000 for the first 50 customers), the Outback 2.5i-S comes with all the requisite features that make truly a flagship crossover for Subaru. Outside, it offers 213 millimeters of ground clearance as well as the same two-tone 18-inch wheels with 225/60R18 tires. It has automatic LED headlamps and rain-sensing wipers as well as the nifty folding roof rack as standard equipment. Inside, it features a full leather interior, dual zone climate control, powered front seats (with memory for the driver), a touchscreen audio system with voice recognition and Bluetooth, and a powered tailgate. In fact, the only thing omitted from the 3.6R-S is the Harman/Kardon sound system. And as with any Subaru vehicle, it comes loaded with a full suite of safety features such as 7 airbags, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist complimented by the legendary Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive with built-in X-Mode.
The Outback 2.5i-S joins the Outback 3.6R-S which doesn’t see a price change. It still retails for P 2,288,000.

Would have been better if they offered it with the same engine as the Forester XT.
