As a new dawn breaks, Volvo Philippines celebrates its 21st year in the country by giving a preview of the All-New Volvo XC90.
Volvo Philippines first opened its doors in November 1994 with a clear vision to be an esteemed car brand. Since then, it has earned a multitude of rewards and accolades, including the coveted Volvo Diamond Award. Given only in its first full year of operation, this recognition is given to outstanding performance in the areas of vehicle sales, parts and service operations, competitive positioning and customer satisfaction.
With an inherent care for people, Volvo in the Philippines has continued to flourish which can also be attributed to the strong and dynamic team behind the brand. With the visionary leadership of Atty. Albert B. Arcilla, over 4,000 Volvo cars are now plying the streets of the archipelago. Complemented by his synergistic team, Volvo Philippines remains to be one of the organizations that gives off a warm, welcoming vibe to all those who grace their showrooms and service centers.
To address the burgeoning demand for cars with premium design, fit and finish, Volvo Philippines has also expanded its reach through its energetic and able dealer partners. In May 2005, Volvo Cebu has opened its doors to the Visayas and Mindanao areas. In 2013 alone, two new dealerships opened: Volvo North EDSA and Volvo Alabang, servicing the Volvo needs of the northern and southern clientele. Also now part of the Volvo family, Volvo Iloilo has also joined as a dedicated sales partner. Together, they deliver premium quality service that lasts beyond the delivery of every car.
Set for a sale early in 2016, the all-new Volvo XC90 is a visually striking, premium quality seven-seat SUV with world-leading safety features, new powertrain technologies, an unrivalled combination of power and fuel efficiency and a superlative interior finish. It also marks the beginning of a new chapter in Volvo’s history, capturing its future design direction, incorporating its own range of new technologies and utilizing its new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) technology.
The new XC90 is the first Volvo to carry the company’s new more prominent iron mark, which has the iconic arrow elegantly aligned with the diagonal slash across the grille. Together with the T-shaped “Thor’s Hammer” DRL lights, the iron mark introduces an entirely new, distinctive and confident face for Volvo’s forthcoming generation of cars.
Volvo already enjoys a reputation for providing the most comfortable seats in the industry. The new XC90 enhances this reputation by offering innovatively designed seats that also free up interior space for passengers both in the second and third row seats, helping to make the new XC90 a genuine 7-seater. The full seat core has an ergonomic shape that resembles the human spine. A multitude of adjustment possibilities makes it possible for the individual user to create an ideal seating position. The second row features three individual seats with recline adjustment. The sliding function can be used to create more legroom for the passengers in the third row – or to increase loading space. The seats in the third row offer class-leading comfort for passengers with a height up to 170 cm.
The new XC90 offers a range of two-liter, four-cylinder Drive-E powertrains, all of which provide an outstanding combination of performance and fuel-efficiency.
The Volvo XC90 range includes the D5 twin-turbo diesel engine with 225 horsepower and 470 Nm. The range also offers a petrol engine option: the T6 engine with supercharger and turbo with 320 horsepower and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. All engine versions come with Volvo Cars’ 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
The new Sensus user interface is without doubt the most modern in-car control system on the market. The traditional selection of buttons and controls has been replaced with a smooth, intuitive interaction between a large tablet-like touch screen, controls on the steering wheel and a capable voice-control system. The digital instrumentation and the head-up display in front of the driver make sure that the most relevant information is available when needed. Sensus gives comfortable access to a wide selection of cloud-based applications. The outstanding in-car possibilities includes Internet radio, connected navigation, seamless music streaming, the ability to mirror and use Apple and Android devices in the touch screen display, a hot spot for using a tablet in the car – and much more.
