Ford Philippines January Sales Jump 50 Percent

Ford Philippinesconfirmed that its momentum has continued into the new year, reporting its best-ever January performance with retail sales jumping 50 percent year-over-year to 2,459 units.

“It’s a fantastic start to 2016, and we’re extremely proud of how the Ford brand continues to connect with our fast-growing base of Filipino customers,” said Lance Mosley, managing director, Ford Philippines.

Ford’s January performance in the Philippines was led by the all-new Everest, which delivered retail sales of 1,144 units – the second highest total ever for the nameplate. The all-new Everest has enjoyed exceptional demand since its Philippines launch in September.

The EcoSport compact SUV continued as one of Ford’s top-selling models in the Philippines with January sales of 551 units.  Built on Ford’s global B-segment platform, the EcoSport continues to delight customers with its combination of small-car practicality and agility of an SUV.

Strong demand for the class-defining Ranger pickup – the second best-selling pickup truck in the Philippines last year - helped it achieve January retail sales of 543 units. The Ranger’s full lineup of 13 automatic- and manual-transmission variants allows it to meet the needs and requirements of Filipino customers across a range of work and lifestyles.

Ford’s lineup of North American SUVs available in the Philippines also contributed to the strong start to the year, including the premium Explorer which delivered sales of 95 units.  Ford recently launched the Explorer Sport with EcoBoost in 3.5-liter and 2.3-liter variants.

The sporty Ford Fiesta delivered sales of 71 units, with the high-performance 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine continuing to attract attention in the market. The 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine delivers the power and performance of a traditional 1.6-liter engine with fuel economy gains of up to 20 percent.

The iconic Mustang, equipped with either a V8 5.0L or EcoBoost 2.3L variants engine, delivered January sales of 10 units.

Ford plans to continue enhancing its customer and ownership experience across the country this year. This includes the official inauguration of Ford Marilao in Bulacan later this month as it further expands its authorized dealer network to even more key locations across the Philippines.

  1. ^Kudos, lots of blue ovals running around!
If Ford has this figure to flaunt for January, imagine what Toyota has. If Ford sales continue to grow, it helps not just adding showrooms and service centers, but also expanding the existing ones. Some service centers are really crammed.

  2. What's amazing is Ford doesn't rely too much on fleet sales. It doesn't sell commercial vans or and AUVs. I think it sells its products mostly to individual buyers, which makes its sales numbers seem even more remarkable.
