Nissan Philippines Upgrades Sylphy

Nissan Philippines has given its Sylphy a much-needed upgrade for 2016. But you won’t find the difference by walking around outside or poking inside the engine bay. Nope. The newest thing on the 2016 Sylphy is its infotainment system. And take note, you’re paying extra for that.

Nissan’s compact car finally ditches its Bluetooth-less audio system for something a tad more sophisticated. On the center console resides a new 8-inch capacitive touchscreen audio display with AM/FM, CD/DVD, MP3, Aux, USB, iPod, and even Bluetooth functionality. Also, it offers an HDMI port for Mirror Link for users to easily sync their smartphones into the system. Though GPS navigation remains an option, this more than makes up for the rather basic infotainment system the Sylphy had before.

The upgraded system is present on all variants of the Sylphy which also equates to a minor price adjustment. The 1.6-liter M/T is now P 856,000 while the 1.6-liter CVT is pegged at P 949,000. The top-of-the-line 1.8-liter CVT meanwhile breaches the million mark settling in at P 1,013,000.

The 2016 Nissan Sylphy comes in five shades of gray: Ebony, Brilliant Silver, Grayish Bronze (not exactly too gray) Deep Irish Gray, and Aspen White.

“As the Sentra reborn, the Nissan Sylphy offers a stylish but practical compact sedan with convenient features and technology.  Beautifully blending the advantages of technology in engineering and design, it is made to meet the demands of today’s driving conditions,” said Ramesh Narasimhan, NPI President and Managing Director. “And with these latest updates in the Nissan Sylphy’s audio entertainment system, we hope to strengthen our image in the market as we continue on our promise of Innovation the Excites.”

  5. For those looking for style this isn't the car for you. But if you want comfort either riding or driving consider the Sylphy as an option. The proof is in the pudding.

    1. Actually reviews in america says that it isn't comfortable either. It's actually noisy too. It's slow and boring. One of the worst cars they reviewed. Forgot what article that was but it was a comparo between compact sedans.

    2. But you cannot directly equate a USDM Sentra to a PH Sylphy. A more reasonable comparison would be ASEAN neighbor's reviews.

    3. Driving dynamics should be the same since this is a rebranded for the Asian market. I don't know why since Sentra is a recognizable name. Maybe to make people forget the mediocre cars they've been churning out these past two decades. The get U.S. market gets the 1.8L as base engine though and their 2016 Sentra has better styling that looks sporty.

  6. The Styling i find elegant Not oldish..it Looks more luxurious and its very spacious inside and comfortable.. its Not the typical wanna be someone Student Car. Consumption is best in class the 1.8l gets up to 12km/l City Drive in Manila. Its Not sporty yes..but this is a Car for Family or executive Transportation.

    1. Take your car to any reputable Car Audio spot, and they'll install your tv plus for you; no need to use the cig lighter as the power source... PS - My antenna is installed on the rear deck for best reception. Good luck
