Ford Performance Parts Add More Power, Torque to Mustang
Ford Performance, has just released a slew of go-faster parts for the current generation Mustang equipped with either the EcoBoost or the V8 engine. These new Ford Performance Parts provide power gains, is emission compliant, and is compatible with the manufacturer’s warranty. The catch? It’s only available in the US for now.
The Ford Performance Mustang EcoBoost performance calibration kit for the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine boosts peak torque 95 Nm for a total of 529 Nm, along with a peak 25 horsepower gain for a total of 335 horsepower. Meanwhile, three different performance packages are available for the Mustang GT—the 5.0-liter V8-powered variant. It can provide up to 37 more horsepower for a peak 472 horsepower while also increasing the redline and offering no-lift-shift capability for manual-equipped cars.
Peak horsepower and torque increases with the EcoBoost calibration kit are substantial, but even more impressive are the gains throughout the power band, including a whopping 100 horsepower increase at 6,000 rpm. The kit boasts an average gain of 40 horsepower and 81 Nm of torque from 2,500 rpm to 5,000 rpm, with even larger average gains of 75 horsepower and 87 Nm of torque from 5,500 rpm to redline.
Meanwhile, the Mustang GT receives a trio of power packages for its V8, marking the first time Ford has offered more than one performance calibration for a single powertrain application. These power packages bring a unique no-lift-shift feature to manual transmission-equipped vehicles, enabling drivers to maximize acceleration by allowing shifts without lifting off the throttle.
The first power pack features a unique performance calibration and high-flow air filter – delivering peak gains of 13 horsepower and 22 Nm of torque for Mustang GT. The second includes a cold air intake, 87-millimeter throttle body, and intake adapter from the Shelby GT350 Mustang that provides peak gains of 21 horsepower and 33 Nm of torque over the stock 5.0-liter V8 engine.
For Mustang GT customers wanting to turn their car up to 11, the third power pack offering changes the character of the potent 5.0-liter V8 by moving the redline up to 7,500 rpm. This kit brings a substantial 37 horsepower boost and an extended power band, along with a peak gain 7 Nm of torque of torque to provide serious value for Mustang customers.
EcoBoost performance calibration kit and Mustang GT power packages are available for both manual and automatic transmission-equipped Mustangs. For automatic applications, each features optimized performance shift schedules.
C’mon Ford Philippines, bring these parts over here, because the Mustang just needs more power.
