Volkswagen Philippines Receives 14 Awards from Local Media, Motoring Public
Only on its third year of operations in the country, Volkswagen Philippines has already been awarded and recognized a total of 14 times this 2016 for its various models and CSR efforts, making this a landmark year for Volkswagen PH in motoring industry and public relations’ awards.
This roster of awards started on February 26 when its Child Safety Initiative campaign (CSI) was accorded the Silver Anvil Award in the Public Relations Programs: Specialized Advocacy Campaign by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) during the 51st Anvil Awards ceremony.
The CSI campaign was recognized once more on November 24, when it won Best in Road Safety Advocacy during Top Gear Philippines’ 2nd Stig Awards, for its second successive win for the campaign for Top Gear Philippines’ annual awards.
The CSI campaign, launched in April 2015, is part of the global CSI strategy of the German automaker rolled out in various countries, and aims to introduce early childhood safety awareness to children 4-8 years of age, while imparting important road safety habits to their parents. To date, CSI has been participated in by 7,527 children and 5,690 parents/guardians at 36 different locations in Luzon and Visayas.
In September, the Volkswagen Golf and Passat won for their respective categories (Premium Compact and Executive Sedan) at the 2016 C! Awards, the annual motoring industry recognition program of C! magazine.
On October 13, Volkswagen PH bagged eight victories in the Media’s Choice component, spread over three categories, in the 2016-2017 Auto Focus People’s Choice and Media’s Choice Awards (AFMCA). These were: Best Engine Performance for the Golf GTI, Touran and Passat; Best Value for Money for the Golf GTI, Touran, Passat, and Touareg, and; Best Design for the Golf GTI.
The 2016-2017 AFMCA is a key component of Sunshine Television Venture’s (STV’s) automobile industry merit program. Volkswagen PH’s wins in the Media’s Choice meant the winning models received at least 51 percent or more of the total votes cast by active members of the Philippine motoring media in that model’s specific performance category. This year, only 49 of the 88 award categories had a winner.
Capping off Volkswagen PH’s award-winning year was the Passat’s recognition as the Car Awards Group Inc.’s (CAGI’s) choice in the Luxury Mid-Size Car Category, announced on November 21 during the Car of the Year-Philippines awarding ceremonies. CAGI, composed of local motoring journalists who organize the annual Car of the Year-Philippines, has been holding the COTY-P since 2004. On the same occasion, the Passat also received special citation from the Metro Pacific Tollways for Best Safety Award.
