Foton Goes Small with Gratour Midi Trucks
Foton Philippines is taking aim at the recently launched Suzuki Super Carry with the introduction of multiple body options for its Gratour. The Gratour Midi Truck range, as it is called, offers more power, better payload capacity, and cleaner emissions than its Suzuki counterpart.
Powered by a 1.2-liter G03 engine, Foton’s Gratour Midi Truck range offers 62 percent more horsepower (85 versus 32) and 33 percent more torque (112 Nm versus 75 Nm) than the Super Carry. Mated to a 5-speed manual, the Gratour’s Euro 5 engine brings up the maximum payload capacity to 1.2 tons (the Super Carry makes do with just 735 kilograms). Both have the same bed length of 7 feet or roughly 2,100 millimeters.
Set to be formally unveiled at The Manila International Auto Show at the end of this month, the Gratour Midi Trucks are now available at selected Foton dealerships nationwide. The Gratour Midi Dropside retails for P 475,000 while the Gratour Midi Wing Van goes for P 535,000.
The Gratour Midi Trucks are also available with other body configurations such as Patrol Jeep, Jeepney, and of course, the MPV variant.

Deleteito po ba made in pinas? diesel po ba yan?
ReplyDeleteMade at Foton's Clark assembly plant (I think)...will confirm. It's powered by a gasoline engine.
Delete^Its not apple to apple comparo... the new suzuki is diesel powered... the dropside is almost priced the same as suzuki's IMO business people in PH normally go for the diesels...
DeleteWell, it's the closest comparison. The Super Carry is said to be too underpowered to be a good business vehicle. That's the feedback I've been getting.
DeleteNo doubt it's underpowered. 33 hp?! What is that a motorcycle!
DeleteFoton has hit the nail on the head with this model . The size is perfect for family travel and business needs as well , I think a bit more power is needed with a computer upgrade or a turbo . My Yamaha V-STAR 1100 has 65 HP and can cruz all day at 100 MPH , but even on the best of roads that can get scary . I will be getting the Foton Jeepney , I hope soon .
