Motul and Subaru STI Strengthens Partnership
Subaru and its motorsports division, Subaru Tecnica International or STI strengthened its partnership once more with lubricant specialist Motul. Already being used by STI for their Super GT challenger, the BRZ GT300, Motul was chosen once more for Subaru’s three-peat bid at the 24-Hour Nürburgring Challenge.
This year marks a milestone year for STI since it will be their 10th consecutive participation in the grueling endurance race (they started racing here after their pull out of the World Rally Championship). And though this year’s WRX STI successfully out qualified the Lexus RC and Audi TTRS in the SP3T category, it failed to finish the grueling race due to an engine fire at the 21st hour.
Despite its non-finish, Motul did rise up to the challenge and worked flawlessly despite rising engine temperatures (it was so hot that at one point, the fuel in the lines was boiling). As the first lubricant manufacturer to use ester technology resulting in its line of 100 percent synthetic car oils, Motul used the motorsports 300V engine oil and specialist brake fluids in the 2017 Nürburgring Challenge car.
Subaru and Motul’s partnership extends even off the racetrack with a specially engineered co-branded motor oil designed for Subaru. Available in both 1-liter and 5-liter size, it offers optimum protection and reliability for Subaru’s turbocharged Boxer engines.
In the Philippines, Motul is distributed by Autoplus Sportzentrium. Contact them at 02-726-0399 for more information.
