Porsche rolled out a special 911 that commemorates a milestone of the “sports car for everyday driving.” An unmistakable automotive icon, this special 911 Carrera S in “Irish Green” celebrates the one millionth 911 to roll off the Porsche assembly line. Apart from its color, this particular model sports numerous exclusive features that follow the original 911 from 1963.
From the outside, it features “1,000,000” badges on the B-pillar, plenty of chrome trim (door handles, window surrounds, and slats for the engine bay vents), and 20-inch alloy wheels that honor the “Fuchs” wheels of the original. Inside, it revives the houndstooth pattern leather seats, a silver instrument trim, a mahogany trim on the steering wheel, and “1,000,000” badges on the passenger side dashboard and gauge cluster. Porsche even reverted back to the 1960s version of the company crest. Powering this 911 Carrera S is an uprated version of the twin-turbocharged flat-6 making 450 horsepower. And of course, the power is routed through a 7-speed manual.
Dr. Wolfgang Porsche, Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Porsche AG, has been a part of the development of the 911 since day one: “54 years ago, I was able to take my first trips over the Grossglockner High Alpine Road with my father. The feeling of being in a 911 is just as enjoyable now as it was then. That’s because the 911 has ensured that the core values of our brand are as visionary today as they were in the first Porsche 356/1 from 1948.”
Porsche said they invested USD 239,000 (~P 11,900,000) to make this special one-off model. And while there are no plans to sell it, it will embark on a world tour and will take road trips in the Scottish Highlands, around the Nürburgring, and in the USA, China and beyond before heading back to the Porsche Museum.
