In the latest back and forth between Subaru and Honda for sports sedan/hot hatch supremacy, it seems that Honda is gaining the upper hand. According to an inside source at Honda, it appears that after just a day of being officially available for reservation at Honda dealerships nationwide, the Civic Type R is already sold out.
Priced at P 2,980,000, some people balked that the Civic Type R is too expensive (even when it’s not, given the tax and duties). That didn’t sway serious buyers as all examples of the Civic Type R have been snapped up. Seems Honda Cars Philippines’ move to limit the supply to just 100 units worked excellently.
If you were on the fence, tough luck.
Still, with deliveries starting in September, there’s still a slim chance that a buyer or two would back out. If you really, really, really want to get your hands on a Civic Type R, contact as much Honda dealerships as you can and see if you can still get in line. Don’t wait too long though.
Take note would-by Civic Type R reservers: Honda Cars Philippines is not allowing that the Type R be sold than higher than the Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price. If a dealer is trying to gorge you, you can report them directly to HCPI.
100 fools. Seriously, 3m for a front wheel riced car? The Subaru WRX STI or even the Lexus Is350 F Sport are better buys which are equally quick if not quicker and are undoubtedly the better car than the over hyped and overpriced Civic Type R.

I can't believe how much you guys are getting RIPPED by Dealerships there just because 100 Units. Its ridiculous. i would've bought one just to drive around on holiday is if were cheaper due to economics of asia and no tax etc. Its pretty stupid because people like me would love to spend the money if it were actually priced correctly and not just to take advantage of car enthusiasts. And such losing the big overall picture for profit gains and customer satisfaction! I refuse to buy a new car under these unfair and unjust circumstances.

LMFAO at those calling it a "riced" car. So affected to see something you don't like do so well. I respect your opinion, but at least respect the opinions of those 100 (and probably more, just unlucky) who decided to buy one. I guarantee you that those people will be happy as can be with their purchase.

ReplyDeleteAgree! May I add that the ultimate beneficiary of this new model are the countless motor heads like myself who continue to hope that other car makers will be encouraged to introduce similar models in the Philippines. Case in point the Ford Focus RS with 350 HP & 350 TQ, U.S. Spec.

Dude its a solid car well engineered. But for 2.5M thats another territory you can explore other cars. Speed isnt everything. And it looks really ricey.

At the same price? Ofcourse. No questions asked. Its a Mustang and thats a Civic yes call it the type RRRrrr but its just a souped up civic. The price is just ridiculous. I reckon it should be @ 1.8M but no more than 2M.
