Mercedes-Benz Philippines Launches the 2018 GLA-Class
Characterized by its sporty design and light-footed handling, the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class has been well-received by the buying public. Four years after its global debut, Mercedes-Benz is giving it a makeover which aims to bring a breath of fresh air to the premium compact SUV market. And now, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class has arrived in the Philippines.
The GLA-Class’ expressive design remains the most significant reason why buyers still prefer this over its competitors. Now in 2017, it offers even more striking looks. It’s characterized by a stronger SUV look with its new headlights, reshaped bumpers, and varied alloy wheel designs. Also updated for 2017 is the adoption of LED headlights which not only consume 60 percent less power than the previous HID headlights, but are engineered to last the lifetime of the car.
Inside, the GLA-Class offers enhanced levels of craftsmanship thanks to new materials. Changes include new silver chrome trim on the storage compartment in the center console as well as on the climate nozzle rings. The sporty leather seats (with red stitching naturally) is complemented by flat-bottom steering wheel. Meanwhile, the dashboard is now covered in ARTICO man-made leather. Finally, the 8-inch free-standing media display is made slimmer while also improving its display.
Locally, Mercedes-Benz Philippines is offering two variants of the GLA-Class. The GLA 180 Urban has a turbocharged 1.6-liter mill with 122 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque. Purely a front-driver, it’s priced at P 2,790,000. Meanwhile, for those who want the security of Mercedes-Benz’s 4MATIC all-wheel drive, the GLA 200 is available for P 3,090,000. This version is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged motor massaged to produce 156 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque.

Yes I know it's a Chedeng but if I had P2.8M to blow on a set of wheels I'm gonna get a Ford Explorer instead. It just seems like the better choice. Yes these are two very different cars but I'm sure the Explorer can do everything the GLA can, and much more, except fit in tight spaces. The GLA is no doubt a nice car with high quality but it's not like the Explorer is ugly and cheap.
