Nissan Philippines Launches 2018 X-Trail: Smarter and Bolder (w/ 20 Photos, Specs)

Nissan Philippines has just revealed the first local vehicle to benefit from their strategic Nissan Intelligent Mobility: the refreshed 2018 X-Trail. Available at all Nissan dealers starting this month, the 2018 X-Trail brings with it new technologies that offers a more confident and connected driving experience.

The 2018 X-Trail boasts of the widest range of Nissan Intelligent Mobility features that reduce the stress of the daily commute while minimizing the risk of unsafe driving conditions. The class-unique 360-degree Around View monitor gets an upgrade, now boasting Moving Object Detection. This sends out a visual and audible warning if the cameras detect movement around the vehicle such as pets or children. Additionally, it has blind spot warning with rear cross traffic alert. The X-Trail can also prevent accidents from happening thanks to its Forward Emergency Warning and Forward Emergency Braking.

Matching the new technologies is the X-Trail’s refreshed styling. For 2018, it benefits from a more aggressive fascia headlined by a stronger interpretation of Nissan’s V-Motion 2.0 grille. It also receives a refreshed front bumper with new fog lights and a fin-type antenna. The top-of-the-line 4x4 model also boasts of 225/55 R 19 wheels and a large moon roof.

Inside, Nissan has addressed the biggest issue of the previous X-Trail by offering more premium materials. There’s more soft-touch material aboard, especially on the doors and dashboard. The all-black interior also gets padded stitching on the dashboard and knee bolsters. The steering wheel and shift knob are also new. The tiller now has a flat-bottom and toggle switches for a sportier, more intuitive operation. The 5+2 seating configuration continues for 2018. Furthermore, the 4x4 model adds the benefit of a hands-free, motion-activated tailgate.

Mechanically, the 2018 X-Trail retains the same engines and transmission. The range-topping 4x4 model receives a normally-aspirated 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with 171 horsepower and 233 Nm of torque while the 4x2 gets a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with 144 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to Nissan’s Xtronic CVT transmission that offers a balance of performance and economy. The 4x4 model also benefits from Nissan’s 4x4-i system that automatically distributes power to the wheels that need traction the most. The 4x4-i incorporates technologies such as Active Trace Control—Nissan’s version of active torque vectoring.

The 2018 Nissan X-Trail is available in five colors: Premium Corona Orange, Marine Blue, Pearl White, Gun Metallic, and Diamond Black. Price for the 2018 X-Trail 4x2 is P 1,399,000 while the X-Trail 4x4 goes for P 1,728,000.

  1. any complete specs?

  2. Decent improvement but still lagging behind the Forester, CX5 and CRV. Imagine having a 2.5 liter gasoline engine but just churning out 171hp and 233NM of Torque. LOL!

    1. But if the Power to Weight Ratio of Xtrail is greater than the three cars you mentioned then it will leave them biting the dust.

The Ford Escape Ecoboost is undeniably by far the most powerful in this segment.

    2. Unfortunately, the Escape is dead.

    3. the 1.7m Forester only has 155hp. The CX5 is just a few thou shy of 2.0m and its got a tiny sunroof and lacks driving assistance. CRV only has 120 and 150hp

    4. The Forester you're talking about cost 1.678m with 50k discount while you can choose to go for the XT that cost 1.948m with 30k discount. The CX5 2.5G AWD cost 1.895m but with discounts as well plus a 5yr free PMS (Mazda North Edsa).

The CRV though having 120hp but it has 300NM of Torque. They're still better than the Xtrail.

    5. Sportage is the best buy of this segment. Looks awesome has 190hp and 400nm with its thrifty diesel and costs only 1.4m

    6. But the question is, aside from the superb engine, is there anything good that the Sportage can offer that can match those 3 aforementioned?

    7. Panoramic sunroof? Pseudo-Porsche looks? Cheaper price?

Downside is there is no touchscreen and it's Korean. :(

      Delete
    8. Yeah, i agree that it looks like the Porsche Macan. But the biggest downside is it being Korean made (unreliable) and stripped down of useful features most especially in the safety department. I cannot imagine buying a car that has poor safety features, i can only think of myself and my family.

We really can't have it all here in the Philippines, always stripped down of essential features :-|

    9. top selling car dito sa saudi arabia hyundai overtaking Toyota. Grabe heat and sand and long distance dito kung pipitsugin ang korean sana marami ko nakitang sira dito.

    10. Sir Uly, what do you mean by "the Escape is dead"?

      Delete
    11. It's dead. Meaning it is phased out here. It's no longer being sold.

      Delete
    12. Yup. Ford isn't bringing in the refreshed 2018 Escape AFAIK.

    13. 5yrs nayung Grand Starex namin.. wala naman problema... 100% sa performance at sa tipid sa fuel.. made in Korea yun.. saka 12 yrs kong ginamit ang Hyundai Accent dito sa Kuwait ..wala akong masasabi sa serbisyo sa amin..

    14. Tch. Hyundai sells the top lemon cars according to autoguide. Tignan mo sa youtube.

    15. Lol. Crv?? You must be kidding, it’s the weakest of the bunch, and its diesel even worse. Not that good looking too. The new Xtrail’s new high tech features is unique, I bet you don’t even know anout it that’s why you say “others” are better. Haha! Interior is hot, liked it especially the steering wheel. Exterior, modern, better looking than most rivals IMO.
Been enjoying our 2014 Forester XT for years, yep, Subi forester driver here. And we’ve already scheduled a trip to a Nissan dealer nearby. Hopefully before the year ends, we’ll have a deal. ;)

    1. We will. And I bet it’ll be popular, with its segment unique features, looks, bigger interior, tech, etc.
Diesel (crdi) owner here, Santa Fe DM to be exact. No diesel, no problem, less pollution too. Still much better than to make something like the weak @ss crv diesel that’s being sold here. xD

  4. So what if the forester is 1.628 and 1.918 net? they're about be phased out in less than a year to make way for the new one. CRV is 2.05M. Bottom line is there is really no comparison. It's all a matter of preference

    ReplyDelete

    1. Uhh no. The CRV starts at 1.5M.

    2. So what if the Forester will changed soon with a new model carrying the Subaru Global Platform? It's still ahead of the Xtrail by a mile. This loser represents the typical car buying peenoise who doesn't want to embrace positive changes. LOL!

And oh, better update your price knowledge before engaging other commenters.

    3. So much class the way you speak. Kinda gives me an idea what car you drive

What you saying that the Forester leads the Xtrail by a mile??? Lol. Is that a joke??? I drive a venetian red 2014 Forester dear sir, and I saw the new Xtrail a few days ago, I can say the Xtrail LEADS this one, not by an exaggerated mile, but yes it does. The new look, extra seats, bigger, and high tech features are undeniably AHEAD. What my Forester has against it? Power, it’s an XT model, turbo charged. But then again it’s not really that fuel efficient. Oh and even the (more credible than you) guys at autoindustriya knows it, rating the Xtrail higher than the Forester.

As for the other members of the Japanese big 3 besides Nissan, well, the underpowered crv, and so so (& quite ugly) rav 4, neeeed to step up a bit. So maybe I’ll just wait for the all new 2019 Forester to see if your theory “ahead by a mile” is true, but I bet it wouldn’t. xD See, I love our XT here, but I’m the kind of guy who gives credit where credit is due.. and is also peeved by blind fanboys from time to time.

  9. Sir uly how will you compare the 4x2 xtrail to the all new crv cvt? Since the complete specs isnt available. Reviews pls :)

  10. For me the new CRV diesel is the one to beat. Though those Jap bastards should have brought in the 160 hp version but I think the 120hp is good enough because as a consolation the torque is 300nm. I remember the old Innova engine is only 102 hp,260nm was adequate. Damned Toyota even push its luck by putting it in the heavy Fortuner which still run..with a limp.

  11. Nissan Ph.must be the next laziest car company next to Isuzu. There is a diesel version of these on sale in other markets, wont even lift a finger to bring it here. Meanwhile, here comes Honda offering their CRV with 5+2 seating and a diesel.

  13. Saw this yesterday, deym it's nice. Color reminds of the Katsuri GT-R. The high tech safety features, nice sporty interior, 7 seater, moon roof, intelligent 4x4, oh did I saw safety features??? Those 360 sensors and cameras really! Wow. Nice Nissan.
Time to sell our good 'ol trusty S.Fe DM? :P

  14. This Xtrail is really nice. It’s actually a level above on the not nice looking rav4, and the underpowered Crv. For the Japanese big 3 brands atleast. Subi Forester is a good also... but as of now Xtrail takes this. So many nice features, and looks.
Oh and I see many negative comments here about Korean made cars. Lol. You guys living in a cave? Or you’re simply trapped in the 80s? It’s 2017 already for Pete’s sake! Hahaha!! Get over it!! They won’t be at par with Japanese global sales because they suck! Lol!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yup, I'm interested too. Planning to get one but still want to make sure if it's par from it's diesel's counterparts.

    ReplyDelete
  16. When I did my test drive, the xtrail by far the comfiest to drive. The downside is the fuel efficiency and the useless third row seats. We bought this anyway because of how comfortable the drive is.

    ReplyDelete
  17. fuel efficiency on city driving (30-50kph)? thanks
