Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Adds More Features to Montero Sport for 2018 (w/ Brochure)

Mitsubishi Motor Philippines Corporation (MMPC) isn’t taking the pickup-based passenger vehicle (PPV) wars lightly. Just a few weeks after Toyota Motor Philippines quietly improved the specs of their Fortuner for the 2018 model year, MMPC did the same with the Montero Sport.

The changes, limited to the highest trim 4WD GT variant improves the Montero Sport’s suite of safety equipment. Joining the comprehensive list of features that include 7 airbags, anti-lock brakes with EBD and brake assist, traction and stability control (M-ASTC), blind spot indicators (BSW), and forward collision mitigation (FCW) are Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation prevents low-speed parking collisions due to pedal misapplication. Using the Montero Sport’s front and rear sensors, it controls the engine output when it detects a sudden surge of acceleration forward or backward.

Meanwhile, the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system maintains the desired distance between the Montero Sport and the vehicle ahead using radar. It maintains a driver-selected preset distance and slows down or accelerates to keep the distance constant improving driving comfort and safety during highway driving.

Aside from these changes, the 2018 Montero Sport remains the same. The GLS Premium variant though now gets two-tone turbine-style alloy wheels shared with the range-topping 4WD GT. There are no changes for the Montero Sport which tops out at P 2,058,000. However, the premium color, Savanna White nets an additional P 15,000.

For reference, the 2018 Mitsubishi Montero Sport comes in the following variants and prices:
  • 2018 Montero Sport GLX 2WD M/T – P 1,415,000
  • 2018 Montero Sport GLS 2WD A/T – P 1,575,000
  • 2018 Montero Sport GLS Premium 2WD A/T – P 1,740,000
  • 2018 Montero Sport GLS 4WD M/T – P 1,788,000
  • 2018 Montero Sport GT 4WD A/T – P 2,058,000

  1. The thing that i don't like with 2018 Montero is the absence of auto dimming rear view mirrors and it's kinda hard to adjust to your suitable position. MMPC should also replace the buggy HU from Winterpine and the poor quality stock battery.

I've also read from owner's feedback that the DRL has a tendency to turn yellowish. At any rate, it's still a good value for money PPV.

Toyota added some features to their fortuner g variants such as ( disc brake, back sensors) take note kid that the G trim is lower than the top spec V trim, so why did they give the G trim some added features if according to ur argument, lower trims cannot be called lower trims if they were given some added features?

Ur argument kid shows that u r the one who is not reading, specialy ur english books

  3. I'm currently torn between the Mitsu Montero, Ford Everest, Chevy Trailblazer, and MU-X, I'll be buying this coming December 2017. May I have the pros and cons aside from the things I read in the internet, I would hope that it would be solely based on experience, but opinions can also help me decide. I'm looking for low maintenance in a vehicle, but with reliable after sales, and not the least a good powerplant.

    1. Your last choice should be a Chevrolet. If I'm not mistaken some Chevys are made in China. And the Trailblazer is a diesel guzzler.

  4. Kulang nalang lagyan ng auto pilot at parachute ang montero. too much features parang mga android phones like Oppo and Huawei but the quality is a bit off.. Over design din sa exterior like too much ganda, imagine a girl na naka contact lenses na kilay is life tapos naka ano pa yung eyelashes tapos naka brace. pero fun and solid driving pang long drive lambot din

So ito naman si fortuner napaka bland ng design at features for it's price but quality and class naman ang datingan BORING but it WORKS well effectively, so in short...

ito sa tingin and comparison ko lang ha..

Montero(Ethel Booba using wearing skirt and all dolled up using Oppo cellphone) < Fortuner (Mikee- Cojuanco Jaworski wearing just plain whites and jeans sneakers using iphone) You guys prolly get the picture.. PEACE :)
