Toyota Motor Philippines is adding a sporty variant to its Avanza compact MPV with the introduction of the 2018 Avanza Veloz.
Picking up from where the 1.5G A/T left off, the Avanza Veloz shows off the Avanza’s sportier side with variant-specific front and rear bumpers, grille, and smoked chrome lamp garnish and back handle. It’s available in four colors to complement the spiffy looks: Red Mica Metallic (new) Black Metallic, Silver Metallic, and White.
Inside, the 2018 Avanza Veloz gets serious with its all-black interior. It’s complemented by the upgraded fabric seats and door trim, leather on the steering wheel and shift knob, chrome interior door handle and air conditioning vents, and a 2-DIN touchscreen audio system with GPS navigation.
Mechanically, the Avanza Veloz remains unchanged from the 1.5G. It’s powered by a Dual VVT-i motor with 102 horsepower and 136 Nm of torque. The sole transmission for this variant is a 4-speed automatic.
The 2018 Toyota Avanza Veloz retails for P 1,025,000. The other variants of the Avanza remain on the sale: 1.5G A/T – P 958,000; 1.5G M/T – P 915,000; 1.3E A/T – P 839,000; 1.3E M/T – P 796,000; and 1.3J M/T – P 707,000.
OMG.. 1 million for that.. On this.. Using same vios engine? Come on Toyota. Our taxi riding public deserves better.

ReplyDeleteSporty? LOL, I laughed my ass off and cringed. So lame. If you want an affordable real sporty car, get the Mazda 2 or the Hyundai Accent diesel, though the steering feel of the Accent feels dead.

DeleteToyota better hear us out. Everyone here is saying the upgrade ain't good enough. Why not give the old Avanza a 6 or 5-speed automatic transmission to better compete with the times? Or just probably add some inexpensive rear backup sensors and dash cam recorders? An old Avanza owner can get his ride as attractive as the one they're trying to offer here through aftermarket parts by his own, maybe better. Come on Toyota! Give it something worth mentioning. Right now you're like "Hello BRV!" and Honda's like "What? Didn't hear you!"

ReplyDeleteOther carmakers are doing their best to improve their products while here is Toyota, resting on its laurels. Toyota won't stop offering this kind of a sh*t of a car unless us Filipino's stop patronizing them.
I've ridden these solo at the back seat and boy the suspensions feel they are barely there. You can feel and hear concrete aggregate being rolled over by the tires.

ReplyDeleteNot that bad based on Oto Driver YouTube review of Veloz 2015. Toyota should have released this together with Avanza right from the start to give Avanza a better image here in PH. This will be a hard sell from the start but would choose this over Ecosport or Mobilio.
