BMW to Recall 1 Million Vehicles for Fire Risk
Reuters reports that BMW is recalling approximately 1 million vehicles for two separate issues that involve fire risks. Although the recall is currently limited to the North American market, BMW AG says that the recall may spread to other markets globally.
One recall covers 2006-2011 3 Series models to address a wiring issue involved with its air conditioning system. Overlooked, it may overheat and could increase the risk of a fire.
A second recall covers 2007-2011 vehicles with a valve heater that could rust and lead to a tire. This recall involves some 1 Series, 3 Series, 5 Series, and X3, X5, and Z4 vehicles.
If needed, dealers will have to replace the wiring harness and/or the valve heater.
We have reached out to BMW Philippines for their comment on the matter and we will update this story soon.
